Simone Biles Shows off Massive Engagement Ring after Making 1st Move On Fiancé in Dating App

Simone Biles, the Olympic gymnast, is currently in the throes of planning her wedding after getting engaged to her boyfriend in February 2022. The couple announced their engagement the day after Valentine's Day.

A series of romantic photographs were posted following their engagement, in which Biles showed off the beautiful ring that was chosen for her by Owens. She has since shown off her ring many more times.

Most recently, Biles took to her Instagram story to

a photo of her manicure. She sported almond-shaped nails with a brown french tip accented with a white curve underneath it. She tagged her nail technician in the post.

The first snap she posted was of her fingers folded over her palm so the manicure could be seen from the front. The next was of her arm extended, and her fingers flexed so that her ring was showing, too.

Biles' ring is estimated to be valued at $300,000 and was hand-picked especially for Biles by Owens. Biles and Owens met in 2020; by February 2022, he had decided to make her his wife.

The ring was designed by jewelry designer Zo Frost, who spoke about the process, saying:

“Jonathan had been a client and a friend for a few years and I had the pleasure of helping him create this very special ring. He and I started the process a few months ago to select the perfect diamond for Simone that was handpicked by Jonathan.”

How Did Biles and Owens Meet?

Biles and Owens met on the dating app Raya. Biles saw and liked Owens and made the first move by sending him a message. She said they began hanging out a week later, just before the pandemic hit.

Owens revealed that one of the things that Biles enjoyed about him was that he had no idea who she was or that she was a famous gymnast when they began dating; he said: "I didn't know who she was. I just hadn't heard of her, and when I told her that, that's one of the things she liked."

After seeing the couple getting along, Biles' sister invited Owens to their family's lake house. When the pandemic rules eased, Owens was invited to dinner at Biles' family home on a Sunday.

The trip was a success, and the couple's dogs got along. Biles later added another dog to the mix as well. The couple used the pandemic to get to know one another, as Biles had no work to do.

Talking about why he felt like Biles was the perfect person for him and why he proposed, Owens said:

“This was a match made in heaven. There’s no better person for me. She loves me, she’s so affectionate. I just love that. And it’s just intoxicating seeing how much work she puts into everything.”

How Did Biles and Owens Get Engaged?

On February 15, 2022, Biles and Owens each took to Instagram to share the news that they got engaged the night before. Biles commented that it was the "easiest yes" she had ever said, and Owens expressed his gratitude at having Biles as his fianceé.

Owens also shouted out to his friend for helping him set the engagement up in a gazebo and Zo Frost, who helped him design the perfect ring for Biles. The photos showed what the couple was wearing at that moment.

Owens was dressed in a grey suit with black sneakers, while Biles donned a ruched black leather dress and YSL shoes. The series of photos showed the couple embracing, kissing, and holding hands.

The final frame in each photo series was a video of the ring being shown. The light bounced off the beautiful diamond as it was held in a gloved hand and carefully turned around to show every angle.
