A rich, lonely man's Christmas wish to start a family comes true in the most unexpected way when he finds a baby on his porch the next morning. Little did he know what else was in store for him.

"It's Christmas, Marty! Mind helping yourself with a warm drink?!" Martin patted his chest as he stared at the beautifully lit street from his balcony.

The wind whipped through the pine trees, making him shiver as he pulled his warm fluffy coat closer to his body, watching kids running around, hurling snowballs at each other.

As snowflakes fluttered down from the starry sky like little angels dancing to Christmas carols, elegantly landing on earth cloaked in snow, a strange thought struck Martin.

When he was little, his grandpa often told him tales of how wishes come true if one had faith in miracles. 28-year-old Martin thought he was not too old to make a wish and penned it down on paper...

"Dear God! I wish for a beautiful wife and a baby before next Christmas! To hold my hand and wake me by pressing her cold, red nose on my cheek! To compete for my attention and love. To play with my beard and cuddle with me. To love me and fill the hollow in my life. To celebrate a hundred birthdays and Christmases together!!" read the note. He folded it and tucked it into a red heart-shaped balloon.

Hold onto your faith and believe because miracles happen when you least expect them.

Martin blew up the balloon and tied it to a string before closing his eyes. He stood on his balcony and exhaled deeply before releasing it. Off flew the balloon, disappearing high and above the misty sky, carrying Martin's heartfelt Christmas wish to the heavens.

Little did he know a miracle was on its way.

Martin served himself a hearty meal and returned to the balcony to watch the quiet town settle. Every house, as far as his eyes could see, was filled with the sweetness of Christmas, except for his.

After losing his parents when he was little, Martin was raised by his grandpa, who placed a huge responsibility on his shoulder after graduation. Martin took over his family business after his grandfather's death. He was rich, young, and handsome but never fell in love with anyone. He felt all the women he partied with and went on blind dates with were only after his money.

"Nobody sees my heart!" he often thought.

Martin kept himself occupied with work, but deep in his heart, he pined to raise a family, have a beautiful wife, and have as many children as God wanted him to have. He fell asleep, unprepared for the sweet surprise he would find on his doorstep the next morning.

"Merry Christmas, Marty!" Martin greeted himself as he hurried out of bed. He went looking for his dog, Ollie, to wish him a Merry Christmas, and he found him sniffing and scratching the door.

"Merry Christmas, Ollie!" Martin called out, puzzled, when he saw the dog licking the door and scratching it. "What is it, boy??"

Martin opened the door, and Ollie ran out barking. Martin's heart hammered in his chest when he found a baby fast asleep in a stroller on his porch. "Jesus!! Where did this baby come from??" he exclaimed and immediately called the cops.

"Yes, officer, I found the baby just now. I don't know who left her here."

"Mr. Higgins, we're on our way. Please stand by."

Minutes later, a cop car pulled over outside Martin's house. Two officers approached him and checked the baby. They recognized the baby and recalled a woman who had filed a missing report that morning.

"Mr. Higgins, thanks for reporting this!"

"You're welcome, officer. Whose baby is this?"

"We informed the mother, and she's on the way."

Martin waited with the cops, wanting to tell the mother off for being so careless. But things took a different turn when the baby's mother, Aubrey, arrived.

"My baby...my baby!! Officer, thank you so much for finding my baby!" Aubrey ran toward her baby, shouting in tears.

"Don't thank us, miss. Please thank him," the officer told Aubrey, pointing to Martin, who was furious.

"Hey, is this how you take care of your baby? Why would you leave her out in the cold? You're lucky I found her. What if she got stolen or lost??" he fumed at her.

"Thank you so much for finding my baby, sir. I was walking with her in the park; I was on the phone when someone just snatched the stroller away with my baby and my purse. I looked for my baby everywhere and then reported it to the cops."

Martin realized he had misjudged the woman and quickly apologized.

"It's ok. I should have paid attention to my baby more. I allowed myself to be distracted by the phone. But thank you for calling the cops and returning my baby. May I treat you to dinner or coffee, at least?"

Martin shyly laughed, but he couldn't resist the invitation. It had been pretty long since he had gone out with anyone, and it was Christmas, so he took the opportunity to celebrate with a new friend, Aubrey. He had forgotten about his Christmas wish, but fate apparently hadn't.

That evening, at the café...

"Hey, nice to see you again!"

"Hey! And your husband didn't come?" Martin asked Aubrey.

Her smile faded as tears rose from her eyes.

"I'm sorry. Is everything alright?"

"No, don't be sorry! My husband died last year in a hit-and-run. It's just my daughter Chloe and me now!"

"Oh, I'm sorry to hear this."

That meeting ignited a spark in Martin and Aubrey's life. They became good friends first, then started getting to know each other more. As time flew, their friendship bloomed into love. But that was not all.

A year later, just two weeks before Christmas...

"Martin, where are you taking me?" a confused Aubrey asked Martin, who was leading her blindfolded. She could hear the sound of waves and sensed they were standing by the seashore.

"What's the surprise?!" she wondered as Martin removed her blindfold, moving her to tears.

"After you!!" he said, and he helped her get onto a yacht. She'd always dreamed of yachting, and it was no longer a dream.

"How did you... how did you know I wanted to go yachting?"

"I knew just by seeing your eyes light up whenever you saw people on yachts!" Martin said.

That day, on the yacht, Martin popped the question to Aubrey.

"The times I spent with you and Chloe have been the best times of my life. I never thought I'd ever find that one person who would give me so much joy, much more two," Martin began as he held the ring and went down on one knee.

"Today, I know what I want my future to look like. I want that beautiful future with you and Chloe. Aubrey, will you marry me?"

As Aubrey cried joyfully and said yes, Martin slipped the ring onto her finger, and they hugged and kissed.

Martin and Aubrey exchanged their wedding vows on Christmas Eve.

The next morning, Martin woke up to a cold, reddened nose brushing against his cheek. It was Chloe sleeping on his chest. Martin chuckled as he remembered the wish he'd made last Christmas and the most unexpected way it came true. He carried his baby to the balcony, exhaling deeply as the church bells chimed, filling the snowy streets with warmth and love.

"What a miracle!!" he sighed as his baby girl cuddled in his arms, and he watched children hurling snowballs at each other.
