William's Parents Sweetly Call Him "Huck"

William was born at 5 a.m on February 22, 2007; he weighed 7 pounds and 7 ounces. Brad's manager Bill Simmons announced William's birth, calling journalist Hazel Smith to inform her about the baby's arrival.

However, his parents didn't confirm his name immediately. Four days after his birth, Brad left a message to Hazel with the details of the baby's name. According to the voice message, Brad and his wife Kimberly named him William Huckleberry Paisley.

They named him after Mark Twain's famous character Huckleberry Finn. In the voice message, Brad also explained the meaning of his son's name, noting that it refers to a spirit of adventure. But William Huckleberry's parents call him by a shorter version of his name — Huck.

William's father was excited about adding a new family member, stating that his son would learn to share, something that he never did. Their second child Jasper Warren Paisley was born in April 2009.

Huck Is a Total Guy and Loves the Remote Control

In an interview with PEOPLE, William's mother referred to him as a happy buddha, while his father said he's a total guy who loves playing with the remote control. His father stated that when William was nine months old, he was easy to handle:

"If you put him down with a bucket of toys, he'll amuse himself rather than looking at you for an hour."

During the interview, William's dad spoke about his experience as a parent. The musician stated that in William's bathtime routine, they used to do a storytime about "The Adventures of King Bonzo," also known as Huck. The tale was about peasants who used to queue outside the castle to wait for the news about the King's bath.

William's dad revealed that he used that storytime to keep his son engaged and excited during his bath time, after which they would cheer and celebrate. William's father added that his son taught him the importance of quality time while stating that his wife is a great mom to William.

Huck Is an Older Brother in the Family

In October 2008, William's parents were excited to share the news that they were expecting another baby. The couple was thrilled that their son would have a sibling. William's mother stated that his son would be a great big brother.

Like his big brother, his middle name has a special meaning; it's from Paisley's grandfather Warren Jarvis.

William and his brother have grown up so fast, and their parents are adjusting to life with teenagers. William's dad shared that his favorite thing to do was to hang out with his sons and play football. When Opening up about parenthood, Brad Paisley said it's a wild ride, and he enjoys it.
