Evan James Springsteen Keeps His Life Out of the Spotlight as Bruce Springsteen's Son

Evan James Springsteen is the son of one of the most admired musicians of his generation, Bruce Springsteen. Unlike a lot of celebrities' children, he likes to keep his head down and stay out of the limelight.

Bruce Springsteen's son, Evan James Springsteen, looks a lot like his famous dad, and he sounds like him too, but you won't see him on social media or magazine covers anytime soon.

Even though Evan is a talented musician and loves singing and playing his guitar, he also hates the limelight and stays away from the public and the press as much as possible. Here is what we know about Bruce's reclusive son.

Evan James Springsteen was born in the middle of a controversy. His father's divorce from his first wife, Julianne Phillips, wasn't official yet, and he was already living with his mother, Patti Scialfa.

Evan's arrival on July 25, 1990, followed the brief overlap in the two relationships. He was born seven months after Bruce's divorce from Julianne was final. Years later, the Boss confessed:

"I didn’t protect Juli… some sort of public announcement would have been fair, but I felt overly concerned about my own privacy."

The truth was that Bruce had met Patti before he'd met Julianne, and the two had seemed on the verge of a romance. The blossoming relationship was somehow sidelined. In the interim, Bruce married Julianne, and the marriage barely lasted four years -- but he never forgot Patti.

Evan Is His Parents' First Child

A year after Evan's birth, his parents were married. At the time, Bruce was 40 years old, and Patti was 36, and he was their firstborn son and the light of their eyes. To this day, his mother calls "Evan from Heaven" on her social media posts. Patti shared her feelings at the doctor's announcement that she was pregnant:

"I remember the moment the Dr. informed me that You were on your way!❤️ I was exhilarated and had never felt the kind of strength and wonder I experienced at that moment."

His famous dad revealed that growing up, Evan was not very interested in or impressed by his parents' fame or music. He had his interests and his icons -- and Bruce Springsteen wasn't one of them.

Evan Springsteen seems to have inherited his parents' musical gifts, and he is a talented musician, songwriter, and singer. He attended the prestigious Ranney School, but his heart was with music, not academics.

In 2012, Evan won the Singer/Songwriter Competition at the Boston College's Arts Festival, proving once and for all that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. However, Evan doesn't seem to be keen on courting fame.

He is a very private person, and his social media accounts are too. He has been seen on stage alongside his dad and proved to have a rich, gravelly voice that's perfect for grassroots rock. Evan seems more comfortable as a producer and music programmer behind the scenes.

Evan Is the Oldest of the Springsteen Children

The Springsteen family grew on December 30, 1991, when their daughter Jessica Rae Springsteen was born and made Evan a big brother. Three years later, another baby joined the clan.

Samuel Ryan Springsteen was born on January 5, 1994, and completed the set. Sam may be the youngest, but he is way ahead of his siblings. He is now a dad and welcomed his first child, Lily Harper Springsteen, in July 2022.

Sam graduated from the Monmouth County Fire Academy in 2014 and has worked since January 2020 as a firefighter in Jersey City. Like his brother Evan, Sam doesn't like publicity, but their sister Jessica thrives with it.

Jessica Springsteen is a brilliant equestrienne who has represented the United States in the Tokyo Olympics. Jessica climbed the podium and claimed Olympic silver for show jumping.

Jessica, who has been competing since she was a little girl, attributes her victories to her rapport with her beautiful Belgian Warmblood stallion, who goes by the aristocratic sobriquet, Don Juan van de Dankhoeve.

The only girl in the family, Jessica has inherited her mother's beauty and her father's determination and has announced she intends to continue competing. She often posts photos of herself alongside a handsome man, but she has yet to announce a serious relationship.
