Shaun Holguin Became Jodie Sweetin's Husband in 2002 & They Divorced in 2006
Shaun Holguin is commonly known for being Hollywood actress Jodie Sweetin's first husband. The couple was still young when they tied the knot, and their marriage did not last long after marital problems caused by her drug use arose.
Jodie Sweetin was already well known when she married her ex-husband, having started her acting career in the late 1980s. She had already concluded starring as Stephanie Tanner in "Full House," arguably her most famous role to date.
On the other hand, Shaun Holguin was not a celebrity figure but saw his marriage to Jodie Sweetin bring him into the spotlight. Little information is publicly known about him. However, his famous ex-wife revealed their short marriage ended due to her addiction.

Who Is Shaun Holguin?
Holguin was born in Huntington Beach, California, on June 29, 1978, and worked as a security guard when he first met his future wife. However, he later ventured into law enforcement and served as a police officer in Los Angeles.
According to reports, he has kept a low profile following his relationship with his ex-wife. At the time of writing, the California native was not active on social media, and little is known about his life.
How Did Shaun Holguin and Jodie Sweetin Meet?
Holguin and Sweetin met a couple of months before she graduated high school at an ice hockey game at Arrowhead Pond in Anaheim. She was with her "Full House" cast mate, who had gone to watch her husband.
After the game, time seemed to slow down when Holguin and Sweetin locked eyes as he walked past. When his friend approached the actress, she thought it was for an autograph from her friend's husband.
During her college days, Sweetin's partying was not the only thing affecting her relationship.

However, Holguin's friend revealed the security guard found her cute and wanted her phone number. He eventually walked over, where the former couple began talking, and Sweetin recalled taking in Holguin's good looks. She revealed:
"He didn't know anything about 'Full House.' To him, I was just some girl at a hockey game, and I liked that."
Sweetin eventually took Holguin's number but waited nearly a month to call him. She had just graduated and found it "awkward" to engage with males she had met outside of school. However, with a nudge of encouragement from her mother, the "Full House" star called Holguin, and the first date led to a second, eventually leading to a relationship.

Shaun Holguin Was Not a Fan of His Ex-wife's Partying Ways
Holguin and Sweetin were already dating when she left for Chapman University. "I was happy to have him on the side for when I felt like being a girlfriend. I was happier, though, that he was willing to take a backseat and wait for me to mature," she shared.
She would invite him to social gatherings and college parties to spend more time with him and get him to have a little fun. However, the police officer hated her friends and was not much of a social person.
In her book, she details the night she left Holguin, who was not allowed into a club because he wore a t-shirt. "I ditched him, which, by itself, was terrible. But even worse: his car keys were in my purse," the actress admitted.
Shaun Holguin Tried to Help His Wife Quit Doing Drugs
During her college days, Sweetin's partying was not the only thing affecting her relationship: the actress was also on drugs. However, she vowed to Holguin that she would get clean. Sweetin shared:
"[...] I promised to stop doing drugs. I said I would clean up my act — become a different person. I wasn't just doing it for Shaun. I knew I was headed down a bad path."
Sweetin first needed to move out of her college dorm and in with her parents after she told them about her addiction, which was easier said than done for the actress.
However, after she and Holguin sat at a restaurant contemplating how they would break the news to her mom and dad, Sweetin returned from the bathroom to find Holguin had already called her mom and told her everything.
"During this attempt to get clean, Shaun and I grew closer," Sweetin revealed. Holguin also lived with his parents then, but the couple found ways to make their relationship work.
The "Full House" star also grew closer to Holguin's family, which, in turn, prompted her to reconnect with her parents. Sweetin also recalled believing that Holguin was the saving grace in her messy life.

Shaun Holguin's Ex-wife Revealed Why Their Marriage Did Not Work
On July 27, 2002, Holguin and Sweetin said "I do" in front of 170 of their friends and loved ones during her "dream wedding." The former couple tied the knot at The First Congregational Church of Los Angeles, a downtown gothic cathedral.
However, the young couple only remained married for a few years before Holguin filed for divorce. And according to the actress, it was due to her drug use problems.
Jodie Sweetin conceded that her drug addiction was detrimental to their marital union and eventually contributed to their separation after four years of marriage. Although she attended rehab sometime during the four years, her struggles continued.
