Brad Douglas Paisley might be an acclaimed American music icon, but he is committed to raising his kids normally. His life has been about giving back, and the Grammy-award-winning singer has continued this mission for years.

While most fans know Brad for his hit songs "I'm Gonna Miss Her," "Mud On The Tires," and "We Danced," there is another side to him. His love for bringing hope and joy to the sick and needy started when he was eight.

In 2003, the West Virginia native married the love of his life, actress Kimberly Williams-Paisley, and they welcomed two kids, William Huckleberry Paisley and Jasper Warren Paisley.

The couple has a love story for the ages, and it is built on a straightforward principle. They always prioritized laughter and had a sense of youthfulness, fun, and play in their relationship. Brad shared:

"A lot of married couples would rather do anything but spend the evening together. That's not the case in our house."

Singing in the Hospital as a Youngster Changed Brad's Life

Brad's music career started when he was still a child after he performed at his local church. His rendition of "Life's Railway to Heaven" was a success, and invitations for gigs started streaming in.

The tiny guitar player was in awe of the opportunities and couldn't believe he was being paid $100 to sing. He enjoyed taking his music into the halls of local hospitals and singing to sick people.

After meeting an older woman in a medical facility, he couldn't wait to learn her favorite song. She usually had the same response to everyone's questions, but when Brad began to play "You Are My Sunshine," she started singing along.

The encounter left a young Brad emotional, and he expressed:

"I'm emotionally touched. I'm baffled, but I'm emotionally touched. I'm not crying, but my mother is reduced to a puddle."

The heartwarming hospital experience changed Brad's life forever because he saw the healing power of music. He added:

"Music became something that felt like it had the power to heal people. It had the power to brighten someone’s day."

The memorable moment also inspired Brad to continue on a path where music was made for the benefit of others. He used his gift to serve people and hasn't stopped since childhood.

Brad Leads by Example and Teaches His Kids Good Values

Brad's parents played a significant role in inspiring him to perform at nursing homes and other local establishments where his talents would touch hearts. His mom, Sandy Paisley, knew he had a purpose, and she was right.

Brad's life is a testimony of his commitment to making a difference in the world, and it all started in his childhood room. His mom would pray with him and ask her son to do good in other people's lives.

Sandy's little boy listened and grew into a commendable man. Throughout his life, Brad has built water systems in Haiti, launched programs for the less fortunate, sang at countless charity events, and helped sick kids through fundraising.

He also partnered with a project called Live Beyond to ensure many needy children had clean drinking water. He took to social media to encourage others to donate whatever was possible to the worthy cause.

The singer's humanitarian work knows no bounds, and he has instilled the same values in his kids. He taught them about respect for people, animals, and the world.

He shared that he had his kids to thank for the project, The Store. Brad and Kimberly pledged their support to assist a free grocery store for the underprivileged communities in Nashville. They used the project to show their sons how spoilt they were.

Brad and Kimberly were happy with the example they had set for their little ones and hoped the lessons would stick with them as they grew up.

The family ensured Thanksgivings were spent doing volunteer work, and although they had a big log home in Tennessee, the boys knew everything had to be earned.

They did not have a nanny and prided themselves on being "normal." Before they welcomed their second son, the couple confirmed that their desire for normalcy affected every sphere of their lives. They noted:

"When we have another child, they’ll have to share a bathroom. And if we have more than two, they’ll share a room. It’s a big house, but we wanted it to be humble."

During 2020, Brad's tour was canceled, and he became available to help with tasks around the house. His helpful attitude kicked in once again when he saw his son's pet fish needed assistance.

The pufferfish needed its teeth clipped, so Brad watched videos on YouTube and did the job, albeit nervously. The encounter was unusual, but Kimberly noted her husband's actions were not unexpected because he cared about everything and everyone around him.

While many people know Brad for his unmissable voice and songwriting ability, his kindness and caring nature also deserved a notable mention. The singer is a hands-on father and never shied away from a challenge, particularly when the result would benefit someone else.
