"He was a lovely man. So very talented. It was great to work with him."
Hartman shared the above statement before confirming that Redeker had died of natural causes. Yet this did not let fans rest easier. Instead, they remained shocked and saddened by the awful news.

The pair shared a close relationship both on and off-screen, although it never went further than a sweet friendship. Cooper sadly passed away ten years before her on-screen husband in May 2013.
Her son, Corbin Bernsen, confirmed his mother's death on his personal Twitter account. He kept the statement short and did not mention his mother's cause of death, although it was known that she was suffering from an undisclosed illness.
Fans were as saddened by Cooper's death as they have been by Redeker's. The on-screen spouses were beloved by many. They lit up TV screens worldwide, and their platonic love for one another was apparent in their scenes.

Before her passing, Cooper was given the role of "The Young and the Restless" in 1973 after the show suffered terrible ratings. The show's creator, William J. Bell, knew it needed something more and knew Cooper could provide it.
After taking her on, the show's ratings improved, and Bell knew he had made the right choice in hiring her. Lauralee Bell, who played Cricket on the show, and the daughter of the show's creator, said:
"Jeanne was the show's matriarch in every sense of the word."
