Leonardo DiCaprio has built immense success as an actor and producer with record-breaking films. He's loved for his versatility, and he's one of the favored actors to do biopics and period films like "The Great Gatsby" and "The Aviator."

However, his road to success was difficult; DiCaprio had a poverty-stricken childhood. His parents divorced when he was one, and he lived with his mother in a Hollywood neighborhood filled with crime and drugs.

Even though every corner would have someone doing drugs, DiCaprio never wanted to touch them. He might have played a wealthy stockbroker with unimaginable money in "The Wolf of Wall Street," but DiCaprio knows what it's like to have nothing and everything.

His mother was integral in keeping him grounded and out of trouble. He wanted to make something out of himself and escape his dangerous surroundings, so DiCaprio would beg her to take him to auditions because he also hated school.

When the "Titanic" star reached fame, he easily avoided experimenting with drugs or falling into the dark hole of temptation in Hollywood.

DiCaprio has been a part of successful movies that also earned him a fortune. His film "Catch Me If You Can" made $352 million, "Gangs of New York" reportedly made $193 million, and "The Aviator," $277.1 million.

With record-breaking hits, DiCaprio can afford breathtaking houses. The actor owns a home in Los Angeles and two apartments in New York, one in the Tribeca area and another overlooking the Hudson River. The Oscar-winning actor also bought an island in Belize and planned to transform it into an eco-friendly resort.

He also appreciated his mother's tough love because it made him resilient, while his father constantly challenged him to try new things.

The actor feels blessed to be gifted with parents that supported his career choice. They always stood by him, especially his mother, and DiCaprio has shown his appreciation in many thoughtful ways.

Leonardo DiCaprio Bought a $7.1 Million House for His Mother

It is no secret that DiCaprio cares deeply for his mother, Irmelin Indenbirken, who was there through the ups and downs of his come-up in Hollywood.

Therefore, when DiCaprio got rich, he showed his mother appreciation by buying her a beautiful $7.1 million Spanish Colonial house in Los Feliz.

This will be the second home the actor owns in the neighborhood. He also bought his father, George DiCaprio, a $4.9 million home just six minutes away from his mother's.

However, his mother's house is a complete dream. It is 5000 square feet big and has four bedrooms and five bathrooms. The long driveway is surrounded by beautiful landscaping and leads to three garages with full access to the house.

The foyer is also picture-perfect, with two-level ceilings, a grandiose staircase, an archway, and stained glass windows complimented with vintage tiles.

The home also has an impressive library and several balconies upstairs. The living room looks grand and luxurious with its high ceilings and a stone fireplace.

The family room also functions as a theatre room with a projector, perfect for movie nights. Another beautiful feature of the house is that almost every room has outdoor access.

The kitchen is a dream, with blue cabinets, a warm-toned wooden island, and custom built-in appliances. Not to forget the perfectly lit breakfast nook, which has a good balance of vintage and modern.

Some amenities include a pool, spa, a separate meditation room, outdoor fireplaces, and beautiful 360 views of the surrounding areas.

He Planted Trees For His Mom

DiCaprio has taken his mother as his date to several of his significant red-carpet events, and she has witnessed him receive several awards.

One time, when DiCaprio and his mother showed up at the Golden Globe Awards, one of the interviewers asked if she wanted her son to marry. But the actor clarified that his personal life decisions were not his mother's to make.

The actor never stops finding creative ways of honoring her. For one Mother's Day, he thought of a special tribute that would make her feel loved while also helping improve the environment.

The actor planted a grove of trees through TreePeople's Gift of Life program and dedicated them to his mom. DiCaprio expressed, "Planting trees is a great way to say thank you to the mothers in our lives."

Not only is DiCaprio honoring his mother, but he is also bringing life to the environment and replanting some of the burned trees of the Southern California mountains. The organization's founder seconded DiCaprio and said mothers loved to have trees dedicated to them.

The organization is determined to save the mountains; in 2005, they planted 12,500 trees around Southern California. DiCaprio also dedicated trees to another remarkable woman in his life, his grandmother, and encouraged everyone to start taking action to save the planet.
