Katherine Jackson Is Alive & Well - Inside Michael & Janet's Mom's Life Now
Katherine Jackson, the matriarch of the legendary Jackson clan, is alive and well at the age of 92, despite rumors of her failing health, but her enduring sorrow is the loss of her son, Michael.
Katherine Jackson can be credited as being the mother of nine incredibly talented children who impacted the music industry. Over the last sixty years, Katherine has been the heart and strength of her family.
Now in her nineties, Katherine is still the center of the family and has kept them together despite the scandals and tragedies that have haunted the Jacksons. Katherine Jackson commands respect and admiration from her family and all who meet her.

Katherine Jackson was reportedly born in Clayton, Alabama, on May 4, 1930, as Kattie B. Screws. In 1947, at 17, she met a professional boxer and aspiring musician, Joseph Jackson, and married him two years later.
The couple moved to Gary, Indiana. Together, Joseph and Katherine had ten children, nine of whom survived: Rebbie Jackson, Jackie Jackson, Tito Jackson, Jermaine Jackson, La Toya Jackson, Marlon Jackson, Michael Jackson, Randy Jackson, and Janet Jackson.
To support his large family, Joseph had to give up his dreams of musical stardom and become a crane operator. Later, Katherine took a part-time job at Sears to help make ends meet.
Then Joseph discovered his children had musical talent when he found them playing with his musical instruments. From then on, his main drive was to make them famous, to grasp the success that had eluded him. He succeeded beyond his wildest dreams.

Katherine Jackson Once Had Dreams of Becoming a Country Singer
As a two-year-old, Katherine contracted polio, which left her with a permanent limp. Little Katherine dreamed of becoming an actress and a country singer and was disappointed to discover that there were no black country singers.
When Blanket was 15 and Katherine was 87, she resigned as Blanket's guardian, leaving him in the care of his cousin TJ Jackson.
Katherine's dreams of a happy marriage were also in vain. Joseph was unfaithful to her and had a decades-long affair and a child with another woman, Cheryle Terrell. Katherine filed for divorce twice - in 1973 and 1982 - but was talked into dropping the suits.
Despite his infidelities and harshness towards their children, she remained married to Joseph until he died in 2018. Katherine saw all her children achieve success and stood by her son Michael throughout his legal troubles.

Katherine Jackson Still Finds It Very Hard to Talk about Son Michael's Death
Then on June 25, 2009, Katherine suffered a cruel blow. Her son, Michael Jackson, the acclaimed King of Pop, passed away. She was so devastated by her loss that 12 years after Michael's passing, she is still incapable of speaking about it.
The King of Pop provided for his mother and three children in his will and left Katherine as the guardian of his children, Paris Jackson, Prince Michael Jackson II, and Prince Jackson. His father, Joseph, whom he accused of being abusive, was not mentioned, nor did he have access to the estate. Years later, Joseph stated:
"I never beat him [Michael] . I whipped him with a stick and a belt. I never beat him. You beat someone with a stick."

Katherine Jackson Now Leads a Quiet Life in a Small Town
Katherine raised her two oldest grandchildren by Michael but admitted that she was too old to take on Blanket, who was just seven years old when his father died. When Blanket was 15 and Katherine was 87, she resigned as Blanket's guardian, leaving him in the care of his cousin TJ Jackson.
After Michael's death, Katherine returned to Indiana, where she lives a quiet life, far from the limelight, after so many years of public scrutiny and controversy. She avoids public events, but in 2018, she traveled to Los Angeles to see her granddaughter Paris perform at the Canyon Sessions Cancer Fundraiser.
Katherine's support was appreciated, and Paris gave her grandmother a shoutout on social media:
"I can't believe my grandma made it to our second live show, and she actually liked it!?!!! I love you so much, grandma."
Katherine Jackson Continues Lively and Strong after Stroke Rumors
When Katherine was 87, fake news claimed that the Jackson matriarch had suffered a stroke and was surrounded by her family on her deathbed. The Jackson clan vigorously denied the rumors and stated that Katherine was in good health.
In 2021, Janet confirmed her mother's continuing good health by posting a throwback photo of herself with Katherine on her mother's birthday and captioning it:
"Sending so much luv to my beautiful mother today 🤍🤗😘 91 years strong 🙏🏽."
Katherine Jackson has been the peacemaker in the family, keeping her family united. If Joseph was the goad urging them to stardom, she was the loving arms they ran to. She remains the inspiration for her eight surviving children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
