Caleb Murray Is Bill Murray's Son from His Second Marriage

Bill Murray may be a public figure, having been in the entertainment industry for several years with many film credits. However, his children prefer living private lives.

Among the "Lost in Translation" star's children are Caleb Murray, born from Bill's second marriage. Caleb once made the headlines, and not for a good reason.

Caleb's Life Is a Closed Book for Tabloids

Caleb has lived so private that his actual birthday isn't known to the public. All known about him is that he is one of the children born from Bill Murray's second marriage, which lasted from 1997 to 2008.

In 2020, Caleb made the news after being arrested in Vineyard Haven, Massachusetts, for allegedly breaking a truck's window and disobeying a police officer during a Black Lives Matter protest. Caleb, reportedly 27 at that time, was accused of attacking sheriff's deputies and threatened arson. The police report reportedly read:

"Tisbury Police charged Murray with malicious destruction of property, a threat to commit a crime, three counts of assault and battery on a police officer, making terroristic threats, and disorderly conduct."

Even when he was already in police custody, Caleb allegedly refused to cooperate and even physically hurt the deputies. Caleb was eventually released and was given a bail of $10,000 pre-arraignment. Before his arraignment, Edgartown's District Court Clerk-Magistrate removed his charges of terrorist threats and destruction of property.

Since there were several protestors during the event, there was no probable cause that Caleb broke the truck's window. Caleb's father did not speak about his son's arrest afterward.

Caleb's Father Is a Famous Actor

Caleb's father, most known for his versatile roles in blockbuster films, including "Ghostbusters," shares his son with his second wife, Jennifer Butler. Butler also worked in the entertainment industry as a costume designer, most known for "Firestarter," "The Last of the Mohicans," and "Groundhog Day."

Caleb's parents tied the knot in 1997 and had four children together. However, despite their big family, their relationship withered. In 2008, the duo ended their decade-long marriage with a divorce.

Jennifer Butler later exposed her ex-husband, accusing him of violence, addiction, and infidelity. She sought a restraining order against the actor and claimed Bill said she was "lucky he didn't kill her." She also alleged that she and her children evacuated their Charleston home due to Bill's behavior.

Butler is not the first who had a feud with the Hollywood star. Previously, Drew Barrymore, who endured a divorce herself, spoke about the tension she experienced with her "Charlie Angel's" co-stars, Lucy Liu and Bill. Drew Barrymore claimed Bill made disrespectful comments while filming years ago.

At that time, he was still married to Butler, although she did not comment on the reported on-screen feud. Sadly, Butler passed away in January 2021 without the public knowing the cause of her demise. Her obituary read:

"Those that knew her will remember an extraordinarily kind and generous person, a woman of principle, an absolute spitfire, and a fiercely loyal mother."

Caleb Is One of Many Siblings

Besides Caleb, Bill and Butler had three other children, Cooper, Lincoln, and Jackson William Murray. Caleb's siblings pretty much live private lives. However, Cooper previously had on-screen roles in "Moonrise Kingdom" and "The Now," alongside his father.

Caleb also has two older siblings from his father's first marriage to Margaret Kelly. Caleb's eldest brother, Luke Murray, built his career in sports and became a successful college coach. Meanwhile, Caleb's other brother, Homer, became a celebrity chef and restaurant owner.

While living privately, Caleb's two eldest siblings are more open to sharing their personal lives with the press. It is unknown if the siblings have close relationships.
