Jackson William Murray is the first of actor, writer, and comedian Bill Murray's four children with his deceased ex-wife. The "Lost in Translation" star also hails from a family with nine siblings.

Jackson is not a familiar face to the media, but the number of public appearances he has made with his father surpasses those of his younger siblings. The 20-something-year-old leads a private life void of the media's attention.

Bill is surrounded by younger copies of himself and appreciates the aura they bring into his home. The actor once mentioned that when his sons ask what he desires on his birthday or Christmas, his response mirrors that of his father: "peace and quiet."

As a child, he never grasped why his father would tell him that until he became one to six boys. One would imagine that quiet moments are few and far between. Jackson's father added that he only wants to see him and his brothers at their best.

Jackson's Personality Remains a Mystery

Jackson is one of Bill's older children, born into the internet age. He has an Instagram account where he shares images of himself with his girlfriend of a few years. However, as of late, he has kept his account private, limiting access to the close friends he permits to watch his e-life.

Not much is known about the 20-something-year-old, whose birth date is unknown but is confirmed to be in his mid-20s. Although he remains mainly out of the public eye, Jackson, a Clemson University alum, was spotted with his father at a Clemson versus Florida State game in 2013.

An eyewitness reported that a young girl handed Jackson's father a football, requesting that the "Ghostbusters" star sign it. However, he instead reportedly yelled, "Go Tigers," before booting the football into bushes nearby. The unnamed witness called this moment the funniest thing they had witnessed.

Jackson's Mother Passed Away

Bill's second attempt at marriage was with a costume designer, Jennifer Butler, who he met on the set of the 1988 movie, "Scrooged." Their acquaintance began long before the actor married his first wife, Margaret Kelly. Jackson's parents exchanged vows in 1997 after his father divorced his first wife.

During his second marriage, Bill starred in some of his most successful movies and attained prized accolades, including a Golden Globe award for his performance in "Lost in Translation." Jackson's mother gave birth to three of his five siblings, Caleb, Cooper, and Lincoln Murray.

Jackson's parents divorced in 2008, with his mother claiming that the "Ghostbusters" star was violent towards her and battling with an intoxicant and sex addiction. The movie star's displeased second wife decided to relocate with her children to protect them from his allegedly reprehensible conduct.

Jackson's mother died on January 19, 2021, and her cause of death remains unknown to the public and media. Her obituary noted some of her special qualities: "Those that knew her will remember an extraordinarily kind and generous person, a woman of principle, an absolute spitfire, and a fiercely loyal mother."

During a radio appearance in 2014, Jackson's father held himself accountable for his behavior in marriage, saying he could not take on another relationship if he weren't taking care of the things he needed to. He added that it was not a selfish decision but rather an obligation.

Jackson's mother will also be remembered for her costume design work on projects such as "Grounding Day" starring Bill and Andie MacDowell; "Firestarter" starring Drew Barrymore; and "The Last of the Mohicans" starring Daniel Day-Lewis as Hawkeye.

Jackson Is One of Many Brothers

Bill welcomed six sons between his two marriages from 1981 to 2008. His first wife, Margaret Kelly, gave birth to two sons, Luke and Homer. The former is an assistant sports coach with previous employment roles at Wagner College and Arizona State. He was ranked in the top 10 of ESPN's coaches under 40.

Jackson's second oldest brother, Homer, is a celebrity chef who owns a thriving restaurant, 21 Greenpoint, in Brooklyn. The establishment's website notes that the restaurant and its menu are thoughtful, trustworthy, and welcoming. After Homer, Bill welcomed Jackson, Caleb, Cooper, and Lincoln.

Caleb supported the Black Lives Matter movement and was arrested in the Vineyard Haven protest aged 27. Cooper is the brother with a history in film, with support roles in "Moonrise Kingdom" and "The Now." Lincoln, the youngest and most private of the lot, does not even have a traceable social media page.
