Scott Bakula of 'Quantum Leap' Is 68 — He Lives Close to Nature with Wife of 13 Years & They Welcomed 1st Grandkid

Scott Bakula is a famous actor from the hit series "Quantum Leap." He was also part of the successful show, " NCIS New Orleans." However, despite his busy schedule, he makes time for his family, even if it takes adding strict cut-off work times in his contracts. Now he enjoys a quiet life in nature with his wife, Chelsea Field.

Scott Bakula is a famous actor who broke into fame on the hit series, "Quantum Leap." The show brought an interesting array of science fiction stories filled with emotion and humor.

The show became a huge success, and Bakula and his co-star Dean Stockwell were at the forefront of it. The hit time-travel series was on the air from 1988-1993.

Bakula's character, Dr. Sam Beckett, the time traveler, became a fan favorite even decades after the show ended. However, anyone who loved the show was ecstatic to hear that the series was being rebooted for a sixth season.

The creator of the show, Donald P. Bellisario, said he had always wanted to create a show about time travel, and for five seasons on the air, it was one of the most loved shows on television.

Before Bakula was known for his role in "Quantum Leap," he started his acting career in his teens as a theatre stage actor who focused on musical comedy.

He eventually made it on the big stage of Broadway and made his debut in "Marilyn: An American Fable." His television debut was when he guested on "My Sister Sam."

Bakula was a part of a few other small shows before he landed "Quantum Leap." He participated in "Gung Ho!" which was not as successful. His second series was another failed show, "Eisenhower and Lutz."

However, in 1992, a few years after his appearance in the science fiction series, he won a Golden Globe and was nominated four more times.

The actor is reported to have over a $10 million net worth. After his success on "Quantum Leap," Bakula bagged another long-term role on "NCIS New Orleans."

Bakula played special agent Dwyane King Pride and instantly became a fan favorite again. The investigative show ran for seven seasons, and the actor said he was shocked at its cancellation.

However, Bakula appreciated the opportunity of being part of his fans' lives for so long. He expressed how happy he was to be loved by so many people.

The actor said the stories they created on "NCIS New Orleans" were there to connect with people and hopefully become part of their homes. But with the end of the show, Bakula hoped to build more close relationships with his fans in the future.

Nonetheless, Bakula did not only specialize in TV shows. He made his film debut in the 1990 movie "Sibling Rivalry." Then he went on to appear in "L.A. Story" and "My Family/Mi Familia."

Scott Bakula and His Wife of 13 Years

Bakula found his love with Chelsea Field, who was also an actress on "NCIS Nola." The couple married in 2009 after dating for 15 years. After one failed marriage, Bakula was ready to build a healthy, long-lasting relationship.

After being together for so long, Field and Bakula made a pact to constantly be present in their relationship, and the actor credited his wife for always being there for their family.

Even though most couples would be afraid to work with their significant other, Bakula had no complaints about having his wife at work. But when the couple was not handling their busy schedules, they enjoyed their quiet time in their home surrounded by nature.

Field even shared a picture of a beautiful flower archway from the entryway of their home, with a view of a forest of trees around the house.

Scott Bakula's Life as a Father and Grandfather

After gracing the screens and becoming part of so many people's lives for, years, fans are also interested to know more about Bakula's private life.

The 68-year-old is very particular about his work-life balance. After making it big in the 80s, Bakula knows that constant work can take away from family.

Therefore, the actor prioritized adding clauses to his contracts to allow him to be home with his family. When he was filming "Star Trek: Enterprise" in 2001, he said, "I had it put in my contract that I would be done every Wednesday at six so I could be home for dinner."

Bakula wanted to make time to coach his son's soccer and baseball teams. From his first marriage with Krista Neumann, the actor has two children, Chelsy Bakula and Cody Bakula.

His daughter Chelsy even appeared on an episode of "Quantum Leap"; however, his children eventually stayed out of the spotlight.

However, Bakula and Neumann divorced in 1995, and in 1999, he met his wife, Field. The couple also has two children, Will and Owen Bakula.

Now Field and Bakula enjoy a different phase of life with their first grandchild. Field loves to share adorable pictures of her grandson and loves to see her husband, her son, and her grandson all together.
