On January 17, 2023, Jim Carrey turned 61. This comes after he announced in 2018 that he would take a break from his career and spend more time with his family. He also said he would be focusing on painting and spirituality. He said:

"I really like my quiet life, and I really love putting paint on a canvas, and I really love my spiritual life."

He went on to say that he felt he had had enough in his life and had done enough throughout his career. When an interviewer said she hoped he would stay around and make people laugh, he confirmed he would continue to be in the world no matter what.

Carrey now lives the quiet life he enjoys and spends time with his daughter, Jane. Jane is also in show business. She has her own self-titled band and has appeared on "Catfish: The TV Show."

Carrey said his daughter was wonderful to him, and he felt lucky to have her in his life. He also said he couldn't wait for the world to see what she could and was confident it would be a good year for her in 2022.

Jim Carrey Is Close to His Hidden Grandson

In 2010, when Carrey was only 47, he became a grandfather to his daughter's only son. The boy is named Jackson Riley Santana, born to Jane and her husband, Alex Santana. Carrey announced his grandson's birth via Twitter.

A month later, he posted another photo of his grandson on Twitter and asked fans whether or not they wanted to stare at the little boy with him. He said there was nothing better than staring at his grandson and that he loved being a grandfather.

While he said he relished being a grandparent, he admitted that he did not expect to be a grandparent in his late 40s. He joked:

"I'm a good grandad, but it's a little embarrassing, I gotta say, in public when just … he's like "Grandpa!" You know, he doesn't hold back at all."

Carrey then said that he and his grandson get along very well and joked that the little boy could be his bodyguard. He then said they spent much of their time together, bonding over things that Jackson enjoys.

The actor said that he and his grandson play video games together, but he's consistently humiliated by them because his grandson is so much better at them than he is. He also confessed that his grandson trash-talks him throughout.

Talking about his "magical" grandson, Carrey said: "I just get a lot of joy, a lot of joy from that little boy." He even went so far as to say it was the greatest feeling in the world, adding:

"Without this, I die."

In April last year, Carrey and his grandson attended the Sonic the Hedgehog Family Event together. The pair were photographed standing beside a Sonic the Hedgehog mascot, smiling.

Fans immediately noticed that Carrey looked happy and relaxed standing with his grandson and sent blessings to them both. Another noted that the photo was cute and said that Carrey appeared delighted.

Carrey has lived out of the spotlight for quite some time now and is still enjoying his retirement alongside his friends and family, who support him in his hope to live a quieter, more peaceful life.
