Macaulay Culkin, best known for his role as Kevin in "Home Alone" and "Home Alone 2," has led a life that is nothing short of fascinating. He has faced many challenges and survived many obstacles.

Macaulay developed an unlikely friendship with Michael Jackson when he was a young boy, resulting in the pair forming a lifelong bond, which Macaulay still recalls fondly. He is also still close with Michael's family.

When "Home Alone" was released in 1990, Macaulay was a typical ten-year-old boy. However, as he adjusted to child stardom, he found that his life was changing forever. It was then that he received a phone call from Michael.

It was said that Michael phoned Macaulay and told him that he understood the pressure he was under as a child star and would like to be his friend and help him through that time in his life. Michael was 32 at the time.

Macaulay reflected on when he and Michael became friends, saying they became inseparable in the days following the phone call. Macaulay reminisced:

"Seriously, he was like my best friend for a good long stretch. It was a legitimate friendship."

Macaulay said their friendship was never weird, even though it seemed that way to others. He said Michael's fame did not bother him because he was used to meeting famous people, and the pair identified with one another because they had similar childhood experiences.

Michael Made Macaulay Godfather to His Children

Michael and Macaulay only got closer as time went on, and Michael helped Macaulay through some of the more difficult times in his life. When Michael welcomed his children into the world, there was one person he knew he wanted to act as their godparent.

When Michael Jackson and Debbie Rowe began their relationship, Debbie revealed that she knew Michael wanted to have children, and she believed she should be the one to give them to him.

Debbie said there are people on earth who are born to be parents, and Michael was one of those people. The couple's first child, Michael Jackson Jr., also known as Prince Michael, was born in 1997. His sister, Paris, arrived in 1998.

When Prince was born, Michael elected Macaulay and Elizabeth Taylor as his son's godparents. Macaulay was 17 at the time. When Paris was born, Macaulay was eighteen, and he once again became the child's godparent, along with Elizabeth Taylor.

Michael Became a Devoted Single Dad after Debbie Refused to See Her Children

While Debbie said she knew Michael would be an incredible father, she hadn't necessarily wanted children. For this reason, when she and Michael divorced in 1999, she relinquished full custody of her children to Michael.

In court, she said that she had not seen much of her children and didn't intend to keep in contact with them for the remainder of their lives. She admitted:

"I did it for him to become a father, not for me to become a mother."

Michael then cared for his children on his Neverland ranch until his death. When he tragically passed away, the children went to live with their grandmother, Katherine Jackson, until they were old enough to move out.

People working with Michael mentioned that he was devoted to his children and adored them. They said one could see from how he looked at them how much love he had for them and that he was an average parent to his children, who were his first priority.

After Michael passed away, a public memorial was held, in which his family and friends made speeches for him. His daughter, who was eleven at the time, decided to make an impromptu speech in which she said:

"Ever since I was born, Daddy has been the best father you could ever imagine. And I just want to say that I love him so much."

While none of the speeches were necessarily planned on the day, attendees were most surprised by his daughter's speech as she was so young and managed to speak lovingly about her late father in such a public setting.

Macaulay Still Protects Paris after Michael's Death

In 2018, Macaulay spoke about his relationship with Michael's children, particularly Paris. He mentioned that even after her father's death, he remained close to the young woman and has looked after her over the years.

Macaulay was being interviewed and asked about his relationship with Paris when he warned the interviewer that asking questions about her would lead to a dead-end because he is fiercely protective of her.

He described her as "tall, beautiful, and smart" and a "beloved" person to him. He said that he loved her very much and would do anything he could for her. He then said that while he is an open book with most things, he wouldn't be when it came to Paris.
