In 2013, Lisa Marie Presley, who died on January 12, 2023, insisted that her father's property, Graceland, should remain in the family. After her death was revealed, Lisa Marie's representatives said the estate would be given to the late singer's three daughters.

The Memphis, Tennessee home was in a trust and would go to Riley Keough, then 33, and her twin half-sisters, Finley and Harper Lockwood, then 14. The late Lisa Marie, 54 when she died, grew up in the home.

Her late father, the famous Elvis Presley, left the home to a then nine-year-old Lisa Marie when he passed in 1977 at age 42. The estate was part of her inheritance which was placed in a trust and dissolved in 1993 on her 25th birthday, and she once said:

Elvis' only child became the sole owner of the estate when she turned 25. Lisa Marie formed a new trust called The Elvis Presley Trust alongside her mother, Priscilla Presley, and the National Bank of Commerce to help manage the property.

As the years went by, the trustees opened it up to the public by having overnight stays and tours. The late King of Rock 'n Roll bought Graceland for $100,000 in 1957; by 2020, it was estimated to be worth $500 million.

According to Memphis medical examiner Jerry Francisco, Elvis' immediate cause of death was cardiac arrest, just like his daughter. Peter Guralnick, a biographer, later revealed that "drug use was heavily implicated" in the late musician's death.

Lisa Marie's great-grandmother, Gladys Presley, sadly died from a heart attack at age 46 on August 14, 1958. However, it was later discovered that liver failure due to alcohol poisoning was one of the contributing factors to her death.

His burial was the first one on the site since 40 years ago when Elvis' grandmother, Minnie Mae Presley, was laid there in 1980. Presley family members were buried at the Meditation Garden, including Elvis, Gladys, and Vernon.

Reports said in 2003, Elvis' daughter wrote a track, "Light's Out," about her final resting place in her debut album "To Whom It May Concern." The same year her album came out, Lisa Marie revealed she didn't have any burial plans but was sure she'd end up at Graceland.
