Django Crosby is the youngest son of musician David Crosby. He attended a school in California, and upon graduating, he became a colleague of his world-famous father. When Django's mother was pregnant with him, his father was diagnosed with Hepatitis C.

The musician's health complications in 1995 were so severe that he was advised to undergo surgery. He had to do a liver transplant as the ailing organ was treading on 20% functionality. At the same time, Django's parents learned that they were expecting him and his father wondered whether he would live to see his birth.

Finally, he had surgery and was present for the conception he longed for. However, on January 18, 2023, Django's father lost his life after struggling with health problems for a long time. He will be remembered as a part of the iconic rock group Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young and as a founding member of The Byrds.

Django's Father May Have Died before He Was Born

Django was born in July 1995 and, as has already been revealed, his father David thought he would never live to see it. The 27-year-old was named after legendary Romanian-Belgian jazz guitarist Jean Django Reinhardt, considered a luminary of European jazz.

He reached a point where he felt it was right to make amends in the relationships he had soiled over the years.

He was his father's third child, with older siblings from previous relationships. As mentioned earlier, Django's father had great misgivings about attending the birth. The life-saving operation was vital to his father as he watched Django grow into his profession as a photographer.

David was thrilled by his son's birth. In an interview when Django was two years old, he mentioned that his son was magical to him and made him a happy man. He was able to spend a lot of time with his children, and when talking about his prospects, David said:

"If I can spend time with Django and Jandi, and if I can live more life, make more music, there will come a time when I will go for one last sail, and it'll be okay."

Django and his parents moved to Santa Ynez Valley and settled in well. Their home was so good to them that David called it a great place to raise their son. They lived in harmony as a family, surrounded by the unbidden beauty of nature.

Django Got a Job Right Out of School

Django enrolled at Santa Ynez Valley Union High School in 2011; two years later, he announced his graduation from the California high school. After graduation, Django joined his father and was assigned management duties while his brother played alongside David.

Django photographed his father during the promotion of the David Crosby & Friends tour in 2017, and the picture was a headshot of the rock legend standing against a black background. David shared this photo on his Twitter account and told who took it and how much he loved it.

The 27-year-old has been his late father's road manager for the past two years, making innovative suggestions and gaining significant experience in the music industry alongside a Rock n Roll Hall of Famer. His brother James is a keyboardist and producer who co-produced David's fourth studio album, "Croz."

Django was part of the production of his father's one-hour, 35-minute documentary, "David Crosby: Remember My Name." The documentary was initially released in the Netherlands on October 21, 2019. David and crew shot it in Hollywood with support from Vinyl Films, BMG, and PCH Films.

Django was responsible for the camera and electrical work on the documentary, which also features his mother, Jan Dance, and the late Pegi Young's husband, Neil Young. Niel has worked alongside Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young for more than three decades.

Two of David Crosby's Songs Are Dedicated to Django

David Crosby has a great music catalog, with several songs dedicated to his youngest son Django. "Dream for Him" is a Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young song dedicated to Django, the rock legend revealed. The song was an attempt by David to explain the "insanity of human behavior" to his then 4.5-year-old son.

In another of his audio wonders, "Your Own Ride" from the album "Here If You Listen," David tapped into deep emotions and put together some touching words for his son Django. In a People interview, he explained the meaning and thoughts behind the song. He said:

"You're trying to say, 'Look. I'd love to guide you in your life. I can't really do that. I can only be an example, and I've been a questionable example. But I love you, and I want the best for you."

Django lived with both of his parents until the recent death of his father. There was a lot of love in his household, brought to life by his mother's cooking, his access to cool gadgets, and a Rock and Roll Hall of Famer for a father. Although David had other kids, he only lived with Django and his wife.

He reached a point where he felt it was right to make amends in the relationships he had soiled over the years. He recalled almost dying a few times due to his wild spirit in his younger days and mentioned that he became a different person surrounded by those who loved him, namely Jan and Django.
