“I, who found it difficult to find partners, have found love in my children and my work,” Sally said.
Besides being a famous actress, Sally Field was also a parent to three adult sons, Peter and Eli Craig, and Samuel Greisman. The Oscar Award winner's children might be grown, but she was still hands-on with her family.
The star was focused on being a fantastic grandmother to her then-five grandchildren in August 2021. The "Flying Nun" actress's grandchildren were Isabel, Sophie, Ogden, Noah, and Colin.

In February 2020, an alleged friend of Field said the star loved having many grandchildren. The actress was described as "fun and goofy" with her grandchildren, who made her a first-time grandmother in 1998.
At the time, her eldest son, Peter, and his first wife, Amy Scattergood, welcomed their daughter Isabel. The former couple grew their family again and made Field a grandmother for the second time in 2001 when Sohpie was born.

The former Los Angeles Times editor and the "Hot Plastic" sadly separated in 2005. With his second wife, Jennifer DeFrancisco, the other welcomed his mother's third grandchild and first grandson, Ogden.
Peter and DeFrancisco married in 2008, but after nine years of their union, they separated in 2017. Field's middle child, Eli, and his wife, Sasha Craig, made the "Smokey and the Bandit" actress a four-time grandmother in 2006 with the addition of Noah.

The couple welcomed the last grandchild, Colin, in 2014. The star spent time being a loving grandmother to her children's offspring but never neglected her children once, revealing in February 2020 that the three things she was most proud of were her sons, adding:
“They are kind, loving, productive people. Each with their own list of talents and accomplishments.”

The "Steel Magnolias" actress put all her energy into raising her children while juggling her career after her divorces. Even though they've all grown, Field remained dedicated to them and said she didn't want to date because her children were her whole "existence."
The mother of three once noted how she wasn't married because she wasn't the kind of person who had a separate life from her children. She described them as her family and her "everything."
Field might never have another relationship, but she confessed to having found another love. The star said, “I, who found it difficult to find partners, have found love in my children and my work,” and one of her sons once shared what type of mother she was.
Sally's Son Gives Emotional Interview: He Opens up about Mom
In early 2023, Samuel, Field's youngest son, opened up about being brought up by the actress and being her child. The writer confessed to being a momma's boy, something he wasn't ashamed of.

He even noted that he was maybe obsessed with her probably because he was the youngest by sixteen years. Samuel clung to his mother because he was shy as a child, and she was his safe space.
The writer speculated their bond was also because gay men felt an "undeniable affection" for award-winning actresses. The pair were extremely close, and he recalled having a nightmare at age seven and running to his mother's room while crying.
He'd dreamt that his mother hadn't been there to pick him up after school and looked everywhere but couldn't find her. When he awoke from the dream, he panicked and ran to sit on her bed to get comfort.
The author recalled Field promising that she'd always be there to get him even when she wasn't. A year and a half after Samuel finished his final semester of college, he left his Los Angeles room and went to bang on his mother's door at dawn and through the rain.
The actress's son was there to inform her of her third Oscar nomination! He congratulated her, and she hugged him, whispering how she'd done it, and although she was always his protector, it was moments like those that were his greatest gift.
Samuel loved seeing her as more than his "mom" and as her own person who had desires, wishes, and vulnerabilities. While her children thrived, Field didn't have a great romantic history.
What Happened to Sally's Personal Life?
Field had been onscreen for over five decades, but while focusing on her work, she also gave time to her personal life in the past. The star was married twice and also previously dated Burt Reynolds for a long time.

In 1968, the actress and Steve Craig married before welcoming Peter and Eli. Sadly, their relationship was over within seven years, and they divorced in 1975, and two years after that bond concluded, Field began dating Reynolds.
In 1984, the star married her second husband, Alan Greisman. Field and the Hollywood film producer welcomed Samuel in 1987, but their marriage didn't last, and they divorced in 1994.
Since then it has been years since the actress dated, but she wasn't worried about being single. The Academy Award winner revealed that she was “really happy" with how she was and joked that she was content with not having to pick up some man's underwear in the morning!
