Despite having a famous husband, Hanna Prater, Sebastian Vettel's wife, tends to be media shy. The Formula 1 star revealed that it took him two years to seal the deal with his now-wife and that she was part of why he chose to retire from racing.

Prater has played an essential role in her husband's life as he has made a name for himself as one of the most successful Formula 1 drivers. They were high school sweethearts, and Prater has supported her husband's career since it began in 2007.

In 2022, Prater's husband took to Instagram to announce that he would retire from Formula 1 after over a decade of competitive driving. And while he loved the sport, Vettel shared that he wanted to focus on being a better father and husband.

Born in Germany in the 1980s, Prater met her future husband at the Starkenburg-Gymnasium in Heppenheim, Germany. While he chased a career as a professional driver, Prater studied Textile Design and pursued a career in the field.

While her husband has spent years in the public eye as a racing champion, Prater has steered clear of the limelight. According to reports, photographers ambushed Prater and her husband while they were on vacation in Sardinia, and they did not hesitate to cut the trip short.

Numerous social media profiles claim to be her; however, she has not interacted on social media in years. Her Instagram account has amassed over three thousand followers at the time of writing, with her last post in November 2013.

Sebastian Vettel Has Been with His Wife for Many Years

In 2022, Prater's husband was presented with the Gregor Grant Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2022 Autosport Awards. And while he confessed that he did not know what was next for him in life, he gushed about Prater and said:

"I have a wonderful wife... we got together in high school, and we are still together, and I still love her."

Vettel added that it took him two years of "convincing" before his and Prater's relationship began, but they have celebrated numerous years together ever since. And in 2019, between the Canadian and French race weekends, Prater and her husband tied the knot in a discreet ceremony.

Later, her husband arrived at the Grand Prix sporting a wedding ring, confirming their marriage. However, Prater had already played a significant role in her husband's life, who, during his world championship speech in 2013, revealed, "She is the most important person in my life."

In 2014, Prater and her husband welcomed their first child, their daughter Emilie. The following year, Prater gave birth to their second daughter, Mathilda, followed by their son in 2019.

Having previously worked for Look Magazine and S. Oliver fashion house, Prater left her professional life behind to become a stay-at-home mother and raise her children.

While her work life changed after welcoming children, Prater's husband revealed that his personality had changed after becoming a father. In 2021, Vettel revealed that he wanted to set an example for his children as a sportsman and said:

"I also want to set a certain language for my children. But emotions remain important, especially in sport. Sometimes you're happy, sometimes angry, sometimes sad. There's no shame in showing that too. But the decisive factor is the way it is done."

In his retirement video, Vettel shared that he was excited to watch his children grow and draw inspiration from them. As life as a professional racer often took a lot of commitment and time away from his family, he was ready to leave the F1 world in the hands of the younger generation, such as Lewis Hamilton.
