77-year-old Pink Floyd guitarist has made a name for himself in the British music industry since the 60s. Throughout the ups and downs of his band at the tail end of the 20th century, the guitarist kept plugging away, extending his family.

David Gilmour is best known for his association and leadership in the English band Pink Floyd. Although he might be an accomplished musician and the lead for multiple decades, there has been a fair bit of tension between him and past member Roger Waters about the guitarist's authority over the band's doings.

David focused on music and his private life as a father of eight children from two marriages. His family includes private individuals, artists like himself, and a non-biological son he adopted in his second marriage. Many have asked who David's children are, and here is all there is to know.

Alice

Alice Gilmour is the first child between David and his first wife, model Virginia "Ginger" Gilmour. Alice was born in 1976, one year after her parents tied the knot. Her birthdate is unknown; however, it can be confirmed that she will be 47 this year.

When Alice was born, David and his first wife lived in Roydon, Essex. Her birth fulfilled a goal that her parents set out to accomplish and gave them a feeling of joy they had never experienced before. "For both of us, having our first child was the epitome of happiness. We were so blissed out with Alice," Ginger said.

Alice's mother met the guitarist at one of his band's concerts at the University of Michigan five years before her birth. Alice's mother was not a fan of Pink Floyd when she met David. One of her friends who became familiar with a Pink Floyd roadie became the source of her meeting the guitarist.

Clare

David and Ginger welcomed their second child, Clare Gilmour, in 1979, three years after Alice was born. She is the second eldest of the guitarist's children with the model. Clare was born during the year that her father's band, Pink Floyd, released their fifth concept album, "The Wall."

"The Wall" features contributions from the band's original members and has songs written and sung by Roger Waters, who was axed from the band's line-up shortly after, as he made statements expressing that they were all out of creativity.

Clare is very private and has chosen a life away from the spotlight. Opting for this level of privacy has created a lot of mystery about her life as there is very little information about her life.

Matthew

The youngest of David's children with Ginger turned out to be his eldest son. In 1986, Matthew Gilmour was born and concluded David's offspring with Ginger. He was born four years before his parents divorced in 1990. Matthew became the first of the guitarist's children to follow in his footsteps, taking up music professionally.

Like his father, Matthew plays the guitar and once shared the stage with his legendary father in 2017. Matthew shared a photo on social media, soaking in his wonderful experience playing alongside his father. The photo's caption reads:

"I recently had the honour of playing alongside my Dad for the first time at my sister's wedding in Greece. Thanks to my new brother in law and sister for throwing such a great party and including me in the process! Also a big thank you to my stepmom Polly for the great photo's! I hope to see you all again soon!"

Charlie

In 1994, David married his second wife, Polly Samson, who was already a mother when they met. Polly was previously in a relationship with poet and artist Heathcote Williams, who walked out of her life when their son was five. David adopted her son when they married in the 90s, and he inherited the guitarist's last name, becoming Charlie Gilmour.

Charlie once got in trouble with the law when he swung from the union flag during a student protest. In defense, he claimed he was intoxicated and battling with his biological father's abandonment. He then spent 16 months in prison, and after serving his time, he returned as a visitor at a Liberty Choir concert at the prison.

Charlie and his stepfather bonded over the fact that Charlie's father left him without the necessary care he required as a child. David said he felt he had to activate his "compartmentalization skills" to assure his wife that her son would be fine and to keep his family together.

The guitarist's youngest daughter is the second of his eight children who followed in his footsteps.

After high school, Gabriel confidently pursued his film dreams, enrolling in Wimbledon College of Arts in Wimbledon, England, where he studied Set Design. After Wimbledon, the 26-year-old got studied acting at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts. Gabriel's layered qualifications have certified him as a valuable film asset and put him on course to succeed.

Romany

In 2002, David concluded the extension of his brood when he welcomed his youngest daughter, Romany Gilmour, with Polly. Romany is an actress and musician who appeared in "Let Her Die" in 2022, portraying Willow. She has also featured in three editions of her father's tour films between 2015 and 2016.

Romany has worked as a production assistant on the mini TV series "This England," a drama about the English Government and prime minister Boris Johnson during the inaugural COVID-19 wave, starring "Minx" protagonist Ophelia Lovibond as Carrie Symonds and Kenneth Branagh as Boris Johnson.

The guitarist's youngest daughter is the second of eight children who followed in his footsteps. Romany has played majestically alongside her father and sand while playing the harp. They performed a Leonard Cohen cover of "If It Be Your Will." She is also very active on social media, with roughly 30 000 followers on Instagram.

Like David, Kurt Angle from WWE is also a father of a big group of children from two marriages. Sidney Poitier is another entertainer who has welcomed six children with two different women; he sadly died on January 6, 2022, and was survived by his six daughters.
