Strait became famous for songs like "All My Ex's Live in Texas," "Amarillo in the Morning," and "I Cross My Heart," but to his family, he was not a famous musician. He was simply a loving husband and father.

Strait and his wife are the parents of two children, who they have kept relatively private. While Strait has often talked about how much he and his wife loved their children, they have experienced devastating heartbreak.

The country singer soon took a step back from the spotlight, leaving fans wondering if they would hear him sing again. Talking about why he did it, Strait confirmed:

"I did want to keep singing, absolutely, but I was at the point where I'm [like], 'Alright, if this is going to cost me my career, then so be it, but it's the only way I'm going to be able to cope with it.'"
