Does Brett Goldstein have a wife? Not yet, but Brett Goldstein and his girlfriend Beth Rylance became Primetime Emmy Award official in 2021, a relationship tier only reserved for the achingly talented.

Brett Goldstein's girlfriend, Beth Rylance, thoughtfully provided the media with glam headshots via Insta after a photo of her wearing props was used by Vanity Fair. Another outlet swiped the bespeckled snap again when breaking the news of their breakup.

The former couple likely met on the British comedy circuit. Though he does not talk freely about his private life, the actor and writer has given insight into his views on relationships while promoting "Soulmates."

Brett Goldstein Used to Date Comedian Beth Rylance

"Ted Lasso" co-star Hannah Waddingham confirmed to PEOPLE in 2021 that Goldstein was coupled up. The extent of the relationship was revealed when the talented performer won his first Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series Emmy in September of that year.

Towards the end of his expletive-dotted speech, a nod to his sweary character Roy Kent, he added, "Beth, I love you." Rylance pre-empted the declaration of love in a tweet stating that while her boyfriend was going to a glossy award show as a best supporting actor nominee, she was doing her second bale of laundry.

In a follow-up tweet, the comedian "clarified" that "Saturday Night Live" star Kenan Thompson was her boyfriend. This kind of humorous misdirects and social media clues was a standard part of her relationship with the British actor.

A day after her beau's win, she posted a snap in his fictional TV football club jersey, or as she labeled it, her "Emmy's look." Rylance is a comedian, actress, and writer who has had guest spots on Hulu's "Extraordinary," "Sick Note," and as 'drunk girl 1' on Idris Elba's "Turn Up Charlie."

She was a founding member of the comedy troupe "School of Comedy," which performed at the 2007 Edinburgh Festival Fringe, and a TV show in 2010 with Will Poulter, on which she wrote additional material. The comedian gives improv and stand-up comedy workshop at the London-based school.

The couple has been liked since early in the Covid-19 pandemic when they made a spoof of the reality dating show "Love Island" on social media called "Lone Island," where Goldstein dates inanimate objects. She previously also created content with Adrian Bliss.

Brett Goldstein Reportedly Broke up with Beth Rylance in 2022

A British tabloid ended weeks of speculation about the funny pair's relationship status in August 2022. A source revealed, "they just couldn't make it work," citing the duo's busy schedules as a reason for the split.

Goldstein was "kind of dating the wrong people."

Two months earlier, on June 20, 2022, Rylance shared a trove of headshots on social media in response to Vanity Fair using an Instagram snap of her in prop spectacles back in September 2021. Goldstein and his ex have since reportedly unfollowed each other on social media.

Brett Goldstein Once Opened up about the Change in His Perception of Love

"Soulmates" is set in a world in the near future where a genetic test can accurately determine one's soul mate. The anthology series was created by Goldstein and Will Bridges from a short film they made. Asked if he would take such a rest, the "Ted Lasso" actor said:

"I don't think I would because I like the journey. In my head, it's like, oh, the ending is spoiled.”

After AMC executives saw the short, the writing partners were asked to expand on their dystopian concept, which is an eerie cross between "Black Mirror" and a Hallmark romance. With three years between the projects, Goldstein mused that his perception of love had changed and would likely change again.

The co-creators were in very different places in their personal lives when they first conceived the idea in 2015. Bridges was married with a baby on the way, and Goldstein was "kind of dating the wrong people."
