A Twitter user hailed Vanessa Hudgens as the biggest Oscars winner, "She got to watch her ex Austin Butler/his movie lose 8 Oscars. Congratulations, sweetie, you deserve it." He lost out to Brendan Fraser for best actor. A fan crowned the actress "mother" for ignoring her former beau.

The anti-Butler sentiment comes from the "Elvis" actor's claim on multiple platforms that "a friend" urged him to peruse The King's biopic when it was his then longtime girlfriend, Hudgens. A fan tweeted that the actress is going home with a ring on her finger and Butler is empty-handed with "his fake accent."
