Courtney Cox built her name in Hollywood, taking on different roles in several television shows. Among her most famous characters is Monica on the long-running series "Friends."

While she is a self-made actress, Courteney comes from a family of talents. She has three siblings, Virginia, Richard, and Dottie, but among them, Courteney is the only one who pursued acting.

Courteney Cox Is the Youngest of 4 Siblings

Born and raised in Alabama on June 15, 1964, as the youngest of four siblings, Courtney traveled across states to visit both her parents. Her father, Richard, a businessman, and her mother, also named Courteney, a shop worker, divorced when she was only ten.

Her parents fell in love again and tied the knot with other people. By the time they each had their own families, Courteney had 13 siblings. Sadly, the older Courteney passed away in 2020, leaving behind her four kids and 12 grandkids.

After graduating from Auburn University as a Home Economics Education major, she pursued a career as a blogger and licensed Marriage and Family therapist.

Among her siblings, Courteney and Richard are proud to be juniors. Her name specifically stood out as having a "Jr." at the end of a name is usually done for boys. Courteney said:

"I'm from Alabama, where everyone is a junior. My dad's name was Richard Cox, my brother's name is Richard Cox, and he was a junior."

As she recalled, her grandmother would write her a check for Christmas under the name "Courteney Cox, Jr." She said, "I don't know if you're supposed to do that for girls."

Although she comes from a separated family, Courteney has fond memories of her childhood. One of her most memorable moments was when her siblings pranked her to get out of the shower, lying about an emergency. As Courteney stepped out, they pushed her outside and locked the door, leaving her without clothing.

The Cox kids had their fair share of best and worst moments together in their youth, but they remained connected as they pursued different paths in life.

Dottie Runs Her Own Blog

After graduating from Auburn University as a Home Economics Education major, she pursued a career as a blogger and licensed Marriage and Family therapist. She is also a food enthusiast who enjoys sharing her recipes online on Pickett Pearls.

Dottie blogs about home and lifestyle topics, including wreath-making and table-setting preparations. Besides her career and pursuits, Dottie is a happily married woman to Biola University's Dean of Spiritual Development.

Dottie adopted her husband of 28 years' last name and welcomed two children, Carly and Abbey. Carly is an art graduate from Boston University, while Abbey studied film at the University of Southern California.

Virginia Is a Happy Mother and Grandmother

Courteney's other sister, Virginia, lives a more private life than her siblings. Since tying the knot with Bill McFerrin, she took her husband's last name and now goes by Virginia Cox McFerrin. Bill was raised in Atlanta, Georgia, and worked for U.S. Electric.

Although her husband has a Facebook account, Virginia avoids social media. Little is known about her life apart from those posted on her family's online pages.

She and her "Friends" co-star, Jennifer Aniston, have a sister-like bond that lasts over 25 years. Besides work, they have sought comfort in each other through divorces.

Like her sister Dottie, Virginia is a proud mother to two adult boys, Carter McFerrin and Wes McFerrin. Her children have families of their own, making Virginia a doting grandmother.

Her son, Wes, is active on Facebook, sharing family photos. Snippets of Virginia's sons can also be seen through her daughters-in-law's Facebook posts, including pictures of weddings and memories with their grandson.

Richard Cox Jr. Is a Business Owner

Courteney's only brother, and a fellow junior, Richard, received his education at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He is a businessman, owning Cox Swimming Pools, Inc. since May 1993, and works in the company as an associate.

According to its Facebook page, Cox Pools is a "Leader in Quality Custom Pool Building, Pool Renovations, Residential & Commercial Pools, Water Features, Spas & Hot Tubs in Northwest Florida." More than the building, Cox Pools designs and engineers pools to bring their clients' vision to life.

Besides his LinkedIn profile, Richard does not have a social media account. However, like his siblings, he is a proud father to Cameron Cox, who shares photos of his family on social media. He is also part of a big family.

Like her siblings, Courteney Cox found success in her field. Still, she loves spending time cleaning and cooking for her family. For the actress, it's the simple joys that matter.

Besides her siblings, Courteney has friends who became family after working together for several years. She and her "Friends" co-star, Jennifer Aniston, have a sister-like bond that lasts over 25 years. Besides work, they have sought comfort in each other through divorces.

Courteney was previously married to David Arquette, with whom she shares one daughter, Coco Arquette, a senior high student in 2021.

Coco has been in the spotlight since birth, surrounded by famous names. She has a strong resemblance to her mother, who suffered miscarriages before being blessed with Coco. The young adult is reportedly following in her parents' footsteps as an entertainer.
