Widower Patrick Duffy Lovingly Feeds Partner at Ranch - He Met Her at ‘Precise Time’ & Confessed Feelings First
Patrick Duffy lost his wife of 43 years in 2017. For many years the actor did not think it was possible for him to love again, but after months of solitude, his perspective changed, and love came knocking on his door.
Patrick Duffy, the star of the hit series "Dallas," lost his wife of 43 years, Calyn Rosser, in 2017. She was 77 years old, and the loss was utterly gut-wrenching for the actor. Rosser left her husband with their two sons, Padriac and Conor.
Duffy struggled to continue his life without Rosser. He said he could still hear and see her but he never gave up because he knew his wife would at least want him to try to be happy again.

Two years after his wife's passing, Duffy still struggled to accept his loss. He did not think he would have the capacity to move on and love again because he could still feel his wife's presence, but longed for her touch.

Even after two years without her, he still considered himself a married man. But his journey to letting go started in 2019 when a mutual friend set a group chat and left Duffy and actress Linda Purl to talk to each other.
Their conversations moved from the group chat to weekly Facetime sessions. Whether Duffy was on location filming in Canada and Purl in New York performing in a play, the two always found a way to connect. Eventually, Duffy admitted he met Purl at the "precise time" in his life.
Duffy would show her how his ranch looked, and Purl would give him a virtual tour of her apartment. The two actors had scheduled their Facetime sessions to be on Wednesdays, but three weeks into it, Patrick asked, "Is there any reason Sunday can't be Wednesday.?"
Before the couple knew it, the pandemic hit, and they were both stuck in their homes. Duffy was at his ranch in Oregon, and Purl lived in Colorado. So, their weekly Facetime calls turned into daily Zoom sessions.
For a couple of months, the two spoke every day for two to three hours, and with each call, the actors realized how much they had in common, not only in their careers but their value of family and love for children too.
Duffy spent over a year alone on his ranch after his wife died. He said he used the time to think about his life and the one he had with Rosser, but it gave him the time to think deeper than ever did.
Out of this time of solitude, Duffy discovered a love for poetry. Purl even gushed about him reading her one of the poems he wrote her on one of their Zoom calls.
But Duffy said that poem and many more were inspired by his time alone and his newfound perspective of navigating life after losing someone he loved.
When the two were not bonding over Duffy's writing skills, they would listen to some of the music Purl would put on. “She says we listened to music together but she would listen to the music and I would watch her listening to the music,” gushed Duffy.
The long calls brought the actors closer together. Duffy ended one of their calls with words that changed everything; he signed off by saying, "I love you," leaving Purl in shock and excited for the next call. "That was a big floor drop. I probably tarted up a bit more for the next Zoom, just to be sure," she said.
The three magic words led to another conversation about when they would be meeting up, but Duffy already knew he would be driving up to her.
He drove 23 hours to Purl's house. He recalled his nervousness when the GPS told him he was five minutes away. He stopped on the roadside and changed out of his shorts into a good shirt and pants, fixed his hair, freshened his breath, and sprayed cologne.
Purl was just as nervous; she confessed that she had changed her outfit ten times that morning. But after spending months speaking to each on the phone, it felt surreal for them to be in each other's presence.
Duffy greeted Purl and asked for a kiss. After two weeks of spending time together, the couple knew they would have to be apart again, but the "Step by Step" actor did not want to leave her.
So, he told Purl they needed to talk, which she thought was a sign of bad news. But Duffy said, "I really have to leave the day after tomorrow, but is there any reason you can't come with me?"
Purl did not hesitate; she backed a bag and drove 23 hours back to Duffy's ranch. The couple has not spent a day apart seen then.
Duffy knew there was no turning back and was ready for the change. The 18 months he spent alone and the timing in which Purl came into his life was perfect because that is when he needed her the most.
Patrick and Linda Are the 'Happiest Couple' as They Prepare for His 74th Birthday.

As he prepared the ingredients, Purl was featured in the video being goofy and practicing her not-so-good Irish dancing skills, but Duffy encouraged her to keep trying.
The comments on the other hand were all about how adorable the couple was. Fans said they were the sweetest and happiest duo ever.
Duffy credited his happiness with Purl to some of the foundations he and his late wife laid. He said, "I feel, quite honestly, that it is keeping with the desires of my wife, the fact that we are intended to be happy." Therefore, the actor knew to let happiness pass him.
