Steven Rinella's wife, Catherine Finch, was nothing close to his ideal woman. However, to his surprise, her personality and drive to succeed captivated his heart. They are now parents to three children.

A big part of Steven Rinella's life involves the great outdoors. As a nature-loving conservationist, he always thought he would marry someone with the same drive for adventure as he. However, he surprised himself by marrying someone who was his complete opposite, Catherine Parlette FInch.

Rinella and Finch have been married for over 14 years. Finch, an editor and publicist, is the Chief Communication Officer at MeatEater, Inc., an outdoor lifestyle company.

While she is a star in her own right, Finch supports her husband's career as an author and television personality, starring in the show "MeatEater." Rinella showcases his real-life interest in hunting and eating meat in the television series.

Steven Rinella Has Been Married to Catherine Finch since 2008

Rinella and Finch had been married for four years by the time he starred in "MeatEater." They tied the knot in Fennville, Michigan, with Rev. Todd Petty as the officiant.

The couple kept the celebration intimate, holding it in a rented private residence with only their closest family and friends, including the bride's parents, Cynthia R. Stewart and Terry L. Stewart.

Rinella's mom, Rosemary Johnson, and his stepdad, Paul R. Johnson, were also in attendance. Sadly, the groom's father, Frank J. Rinella, already passed away when his son married.

Steven Rinella's Wife, Catherine Finch, Has a Different Personality from Her Husband's

While Rinella and Finch live in marital bliss, many close to them wouldn't have thought marriage would be their happy ending because of their polar opposite personalities.

"From then on, I had a vision of who my wife should be," Rinella recalled. "She should shear sheep and jump for joy when I brought home dinner for her to skin."

As seen on television, Rinella is a self-proclaimed outdoorsman whose idea of happiness is staying in the mountains, hunting, and eating what he has killed. He had no interest in city life or living in commercial luxury. He said:

"I had always assumed I'd marry a woman who was, too."

Thanks to his neighbor, Scott, Rinella thought the perfect woman for him would be someone who also enjoyed outdoor adventures. Scott, a Scotch-drinking, silk robe-wearing socialite, was married to Linda, who was much like him. She liked to dress up and look her best.

"From then on, I had a vision of who my wife should be," Rinella recalled. "She should shear sheep and jump for joy when I brought home dinner for her to skin." With a clear vision in mind, Rinella started molding his date into the perfect woman for him, and it ended with her almost drowning.

After dating more women who wanted to fall in love with the same interests as him, Rinella went for women who were already into the outdoors. He moved to Montana after college to study writing. There, he met girls of his liking, but unfortunately, his love life ran out of luck.

When Rinella traveled to New York to meet his editor, she introduced him to her company's director of publicity, Finch. Admittedly, she was nothing close to his ideal woman, but something about Finch kept Rinella interested.

They remained in contact for a year for professional reasons. While he would be out in the wilderness, Finch would get a tan in the Hamptons. "There was a time when I would have found her lifestyle silly, but she was so confident in her choices that I couldn't knock them," he said.

Rinella then decided to test his compatibility with Finch by inviting her to experience the activities he loves. While she accepted the date, she did not want to pretend to be someone she was not. Instead, she asked to compromise and meet in California.

Rinella found himself on a plane to spend four days doing what he would never have done alone. To his surprise, he enjoyed it. Not long after, they took their relationship up a notch. Rinella said:

"I recently married a New York City publicist named Katie, who is the last woman on earth you'd find with a rifle slung over her shoulder."

After attending a birthday party, he proposed to her on a regular evening in March. They tied the knot in Michigan over a year later and have since been happily married.

In January 2023, he also shared a photo of Finch's American marten hat displayed on a head mannequin. According to the caption, they hunted the animal themselves.

If Rinella had a complete opposite, it would be Finch. However, her confidence, drive, and overall personality made him fall head over heels. Besides knowing what she wanted in life, Finch dared to go after it, which made Rinella feel secure.

"Being with her would be tough but worth it because she was willing to keep the same promises she asked me to make," Rinella claimed.

She was all about compromise and give-and-take, which made their relationship successful. Finch allowed her husband to be himself, the outdoor enthusiast, while she became her own person. They sometimes joined each other's activities but ultimately supported their hobbies from the sidelines.

Steven Rinella's Wife Is Hardly on His Social Media, but He Often Features His Kids

Although Rinella and Finch enjoy living privately, they sometimes allow fans to have a preview of their lives together. In 2019, the television star posted a photo of his wife on a boat, smiling while holding a fish nearly half her size.

Besides his wife, Rinella shares photos of his children on social media, often doing outdoor activities like fishing. He also has snapshots of them with their catch of the day.

Finch and Rinella share two sons and one daughter, although they don't discuss parenting as much and try to keep their kids away from the spotlight. He even tries to hide their faces on Instagram pictures.

As it appears, the couple's children are following in their father's footsteps as an outdoorsman. At a young age, they are already experienced in hunting, fishing, and living outside. Their photos show the strong bond they have with their parents and the similar interests they share.

It no longer comes as a surprise when children follow their parents' career path. Fellow conservationist and wildlife expert Steve Irwin has children who continue his legacy. Steve, known as the Crocodile Hunter, also featured his expertise on television.

Following his untimely demise, his daughter, Bindi Irwin, and son, Robert Irwin, took over their family business and chose careers similar to their father's as conservationists. Now with a family of her own, Bindi tries to pass Steve's legacy and work to her daughter.

Meanwhile, Robert previously hosted "Wild But True." He helps manage the Australia Zoo and enjoys feeding crocodiles like his dad. He is also a photographer, often capturing wildlife at its best.

Their mother, Terri Irwin, also runs the zoo and cares for the animals they nurture in their sanctuary. Since becoming a widow, Terri hasn't fallen in love with another man. She claimed walking down the aisle for a second time would not happen in her lifetime.

Steve passed away after a stingray attack. Then 44, he left behind a legacy through his shows, making people aware of the importance of preserving wildlife.
