Penelope Ann Miller's 'Compassionate, Sensitive and Funny' Daughter Maria Adela Turns 14
Penelope Ann Miller and James Huggins' daughter Maria Adela Huggins turned a year older recently, as her family gathered to celebrate her life for the 14th time. Maria's mother once cited irreconcilable differences in her attempt to part ways with James but reconsidered that months later.
Yesterday, March 23, was the birthday of Penelope Ann Miller's daughter, Maria Adela Huggins. Penelope shared a few photos from Maria's birthday celebration on Instagram. And she appeared in two of the nine pictures in her post.
In the post, we see Penelope and her family around Maria's birthday cake, striking funny poses and set up for family photos—the caption, written with sincerity, detailed Penelope's love for her 14-year-old.
The actress wrote a touching happy birthday message to their "always entertaining, beautiful,(inside & out) compassionate, sensitive, and funny Maria!" Adding, "The world is a better place because you are here! I am so proud and grateful to be your Mama."
After a few emojis, Penelope continued to wish that all of Maria's dreams materialize. The actress's caption was footnoted by a simple sentence in which she declared her everlasting love for Maria.
The birthday girl was born on March 23, 2009. Penelope's manager broke the news of her daughter's birth. PEOPLE reports that the manager said, "Penelope and James are thrilled to have another girl and a little sister for Eloisa."
Maria is the second of Penelope's children. Her older sister, Eloisa May Huggins, is working on continuing their mother's and many family members' legacy, making a name for herself in Hollywood.
Eloisa is not letting her family heritage be why Hollywood embraces her. She has been working to succeed, with three acting credits in her short career already. She graduated from Palisades Charter High School after participating in the drama program.
The roles Eloisa has played in released films include playing Young Ghiandola in "The Black Ghiandola" with affluent actor Johnny Depp; she has been cast with her mother in "The Virgin of Highland Park" playing Erica; and most recently played Izzie Rosen in "Good Girl Jane."
Maria and her sister were conceived by their famous mother and her husband, James Huggins. Their parents' relationship hung off a cliff in 2012. Penelope filed for a legal separation from her husband of 12 years at the time—as reported by PEOPLE.
Maria was just two and a half years old, while her sister was progressing closer to her teenage years, aged 11. According to court documents obtained by PEOPLE, Maria's mother cited irreconcilable differences between her and her husband and requested full legal custody of the girls.
Three months later, on June 15, the actress demobilized her separation attempts, according to an initial report from TMZ. Her decision to reconcile differences is a drastic change from wanting to limit James to no more than visitation rights.
