Eric Christian Olsen's Wife Says Their Toddler Son Was Present When She Gave Birth to Daughter

Eric Christian Olsen's wife, Sarah Wright Olsen, revealed on the latest episode of her podcast, "The Mother Daze," that her then-three-year-old son was in the hospital room during the birth of his sister Esme Oslen in 2016.

Actress Sarah Wright Olsen shared a few images on March 26, 2023, from Esme Oslen's "amazing" birth, starting with one where she was "lost in a zone" when her eldest child, Wyatt Oliver Olsen, requested that her favorite song be played in the hospital. Fans were taken by the "epic gift" she gave her firstborn to share at the moment.

As a first-time dad in 2013, Eric told PEOPLE that being present at Wyatt's natural home birth on August 16, 2013, was surreal, life-affirming, and "so beautiful." Pandemic baby Winter Story Olsen "came to" the couple on September 15, 2020.

Becoming a mother changed Sarah's perspective on everything. In a Motherhood blog from August 2022, she said that she and Eric grew together before having children on their world travels and shared experiences and felt "felt an amazing shift" when son Wyatt was born.

Because the "Parks and Recreation" guest star and Eric were together seven years before starting a family and getting married in 2013, it did not feel like they were leaving behind an old life, they were bringing a "new life along for the ride."

Sarah, a fan of loose-fitting cotton clothing during her postpartum period, advised moms to wear cozy clothes and maternity pajamas "that don't make you feel sweaty" during feeding times. The mother of three also passed along the best parenting advice that she has received:

"To try and not overschedule every little thing. Meet the needs of your baby when the need arises. This advice carried me through breastfeeding, naps, and parenting in general."

Her husband also got advice on scheduling from his co-star Chris O'Donnell. The father of five advised Eric Christian Olsen that because the world is new to babies, it is good to give them structure.
