Brendan Has an Interesting History of Being Named
In February 2010, among the buzz and glamour of the London Evening Standard British Film Awards, Anne-Marie made a grand entrance wearing a gorgeous pink dress with a striking ribbon detail on her cleavage.
However, it was not only Anne-Marie's fashionable attire that drew the public's attention but also her visible baby bump as she stepped onto the red carpet.
The duo reportedly welcomed their child in 2010, but it wasn't until a July 2012 Daily Record interview that Anne-Marie opened up about their son, referring to him as her other "man."

Anne-Marie called their then-one-year-old son "the most beautiful creature in the world." She adores her little bundle of joy and considers herself fortunate to have the opportunity to be a mother. She said:
"I am very lucky. I have known wonderful romantic love in my life but to actually see this little creature and find him to be the most beautiful creature in the world."
She also remarked that the feeling is something that all parents can relate to. Despite the couple being known for their privacy, they later revealed a few details about their child's birth.

But because of the unexpected turn of events, they had to come up with a name for their newborn son quickly. Eventually, they decided to name their son after James' father, Brendan.

Brendan's Parents Decided to Keep His Life Out of Spotlight
Brendan's parents are both well-known figures in the entertainment industry. James gained recognition for his performances in movies such as "Atonement" and "X-Men: First Class."
On the other hand, Brendan's mother is also an actress who achieved success in multiple movies and TV shows, but it was her role in the series "Shameless" that was particularly noteworthy.
Interestingly, it was during the filming of "Shameless" that Brendan's parents first met each other. James portrayed Duff's character's love interest in the British series.

The couple tied the knot in 2006 and shared a wonderful life while raising their child. Despite the couple's success in their career, Anne-Marie often received questions about balancing work and parenting.
In a 2015 article by The Irish Post, Anne-Marie acknowledged the challenges of juggling parenthood and a career, stating that it was simply "the nature of the game."

In August 2021, Brendan's father shared his thoughts on being a parent in response to his latest film, "Together."
He contemplated the dynamics of parent-child relationships and said that some parents think they're not paying enough attention to their kids or letting them hear too much. But he believed kids naturally pick up much of what's happening at home.

In James McAvoy's view, parents often try to shield their children excessively, which can hinder their preparation for the realities of the world they will encounter. "Which is why they're all staying with their parents until they're 35 at the moment. I want mine out the door when he's 18," he said.
