Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) president Dana White has had a rocky relationship with his mother, June White. It was worsened by her publishing two books dedicated to Dana's supposed character switch.

After marrying early, June was left to raise her two children alone after her husband became abusive, forcing her to leave him. She worked as a nurse, and her busy work schedule meant she was seldom around with her kids, who had to spend much of their childhood alone.

Dana has grown up to become one of the most successful businesspeople in the sports world; his mother said he turned his back on those who stood by him when he needed support. She wrote two controversial books about the changes she had seen in Dana and received massive online backlash.

June White Comes from a Big Family

One of six siblings, June was born in 1950 in Hartford, Connecticut to parents of Irish/American descent. The family was described as a blue-collar, Irish Catholic family. She noted that her father abused her mother when she was younger.

After she grew up, June decided to pursue nursing and was employed as a professional nurse. She says she chose the profession because she was always good in math and science during her school days. She added:

"Back in those days, believe me; women didn't have a big choice of jobs. So, it was hard to decide what I could do and make a living off of and still be able to raise the two kids. It was either a teacher or a nurse. So I thought I tried the nursing side and see how it went, and it went pretty well."

June White's Difficult Relationship with Her Husband

June got married when she was still a teenager, and by age 21, she already had two children she was raising by herself. A high school dropout, she says that seeing her father abuse her mother gave her the courage to leave her husband, who had become abusive. June didn't want her kids to experience a life like that.

June went to her mother's home in Manchester, Connecticut, where she gave birth to Dana before their family moved to Ware, Massachusetts. When Dana was in third or fourth grade, his mother moved them to Las Vegas as it was one of the highest-paying places for a nurse.

Dana talked about his mother and childhood, saying June used to work a lot, so Dana and his sister were always home and alone. The siblings had to clean the house. However, the president of UFC says that he wouldn't change anything about his growing up as it helped him reach the heights he has.

June White Had to File a Lawsuit after the Book Came Out

June wrote two books based on her son's life. The first is "Dana White, King of MMA: Dana White an unauthorized biography," released in 2011. The second book, which came out the following year, is titled "Through A mother's Eyes, The Dana White Story: an unauthorized biography."

The books are centered around Dana White's childhood and his mother's memories of him. They also went further to discuss his adulthood and how he has allegedly changed to become a brash and outspoken person who is brutal in his business dealings and is not bothered about what anyone else thinks.

The first book garnered a lot of attention and controversy, with some fans attacking June for expecting perfection from Dana, noting that his attitude is what is needed in his line of business. Popular MMA forums deleted any of the book's discussions, and Dana blocked any who followed June on Twitter.

After a spate of attacks aimed at June, she filed a lawsuit against those trying to ruin her name on the internet. She said she and her family had been victims of cyberbullying for more than a year and feared that Dana's company may have had something to do with it. A judge later dismissed the lawsuit.
