Carol Burnett is famous for her role in her self-titled show and some other titles like "Annie," "The Four Seasons," and "Mama's Family." While it has been a while since she last starred in anything, she is satisfied with her life.

Burnett has had a long and successful career in Hollywood and is okay with slowing down a little as she ages. The icon turns 90 this year but still looks as young and healthy as ever, prompting praise from fans.

Burnett will celebrate her 90th birthday at the end of April and has said she only feels like a young girl. The actress shared that her knees and hips were in good shape and felt great.

The actress is shocked at how quickly her life has gone, but she is grateful that she is still healthy and ready to take on the world, even at her age. She is even preparing for an upcoming role in "Palm Royale."

While Burnett might have fewer roles streaming in than she did in her early days in Hollywood, she is grateful for those she has and pleased with her acting credits thus far.

The actress, who only discovered her knack for comedy in college, says she wants her legacy to be about making people laugh and bringing joy to the audiences who experienced her performances.

Although Burrnett loved that fans said their families only gathered to watch her shows, the actress's family went through turmoil when she lost her daughter, her mini-me named Carrie.

The loss shook Burnett to her core, and it is something she still thinks about today. Her other children were there to help her navigate her grief, and she even found respite in temporarily caring for her grandson from her other daughter.

Burnett Opens Up About Her Age and Body at Almost 90

Other actors in Hollywood who have reached Burnett's age have mostly all had to have some surgery to keep their bodies functioning properly. Whether that be knee and hip replacements, or cosmetic surgeries, actors are no strangers to going under the knife.

However, Burnett has never had to endure any such thing. The actress still has her knees and hips and says that while shocked by that fact, it also makes her happy to know this. Talking about how old she feels, Burnett joked:

Another thing that Burnett is grateful for is the fact that she still has all her wits about her. For some, as they age, their minds go; however, Burnett is still sharp as a tack and enjoys her life.

When Burnett was much younger and living in Los Angeles, she would sit in her childhood bedroom and pretend to be on a radio show by shouting out her bedroom window.

One day, a man yelled at her to turn her radio off. Burnett was delighted that this man had yelled at her because it showed her that her neighbors believed her fake radio show was real. It gave her the confidence to think that she had natural talent.

It was only in a college acting class that Burnett discover she was a comedienne. While other students in her class had chosen darker, more dramatic pieces to work on, Burnett did not believe she could handle those.

The actress decided that instead of following what the rest of the class was doing, she would dabble in a light-hearted, comedic piece. When the entire class laughed and loved it, she knew that was the reaction she wanted to elicit from her audience.

Burnett described herself as a "late bloomer" because she started acting in college while everyone else started working when they were three or four years old.

However, being a late bloomer didn't stop her, and she went on to star in her self-titled show for 11 seasons, "Carol and Company" for two seasons, and then "All My Children," "Fresno," "Mad About You," and even "Better Call Saul" in more recent years.

The Drama of Burnett's Life: Loss of Daughter

Throughout all the success and unending love Burnett experienced in Hollywood, she also experienced tragedy and heartbreak when she lost her lookalike daughter. It is something Burnett still talks about.

The actress' daughter, Carrie, battled drug addiction as a teenager, prompting Burnett to check her into rehab at seventeen. The actress revealed her daughter hated her for it but admitted:

When Carrie finally got sober and exited rehab, she and Burnett began bonding. They even worked together on three shows and wrote a play together.

Burnett said her daughter loved people and was kind to everyone she met. The young woman was interested in telling stories and would collect them wherever she went. She would even give homeless people money as long as they would tell her their story, which she would collect and use as material later.

Although Burnett's daughter was able to get clean, she later died of pneumonia. The young woman also had lung cancer that spread to her brain.

Burnett still asks her daughter to be with her for strength occasionally. Once, she asked for a sign that her daughter was with her while she was traveling. When the actress arrived at her hotel room, there was a bouquet containing birds of paradise, which were the same kind of flowers tattooed on Carrie's shoulder. The actress, who still thinks of her daughter each day, took it as the sign she needed.

When Burnett Became a Guardian for Her Grandson

While one of Burnett's daughters overcame her drug addiction, it was more difficult for her other daughter, Erin. She had a son named Dylan, who came into his grandmother's care a while ago.

Due to Erin's substance abuse issues, she couldn't provide Dylan with adequate care, so his grandmother sought to provide him with a safe and stable home in which to grow up.

In January 2021, Burnett and her husband were appointed temporary guardians of Dylan, but Burnett assured that she would not deny her grandson a relationship with his mother. She also hoped her daughter and her grandson's father could heal.
