Brad Pitt has been in the headlines for many reasons over the past few years, and one of the more recent headlines involved an ex-neighbor opening up about how incredibly generous the actor is despite the nastier comments said about him.

Cassandra Peterson, better known as her on-screen persona, Elvira, recently told a heartwarming story about Pitt helping out an older man and talked about what kind of neighbor he was.

Pitt purchased his home from Peterson in 1994 for $1.7 million. After he bought the house, he gradually purchased other lots surrounding his property and ended up with over twenty homes in his estate.

It was in one of these homes that Pitt met someone who gained from his generosity, which went on for longer than he may have expected. Peterson remembers the story fondly, talking about what a wonderful person Pitt was.

One of the homes Pitt purchased belonged to an older man who did not want to give up his home for Pitt, which led the actor to strike a deal. The man's name was John, and he was living in the house alone after his wife passed away.

John was reluctant to move because he was in his 90s and couldn't fathom going anywhere else, so Pitt agreed to let him remain on the property until he passed on and told John he didn't need to pay anything toward the property. Peterson joked:

"It was kind of funny because John lived to be 105."

Peterson divulged that after she sold her home to Pitt, she bought the house next door and the two became neighbors, and she found him lovely. He greeted her in a friendly way whenever he saw her and was a good neighbor to those around him.

While Pitt gained a lot of negative attention over the past years due to his divorce from Angelina Jolie and his relationships with his children, this story earned him a few admirers and sweet comments.

One fan said she loved Pitt and his movies and that he was a wonderful person, while another gushed:

"He was not always a rich man, he is a good man, and he showed that by doing nice things for others; he never told people because some people don't understand this act of kindness."

There were many other comments of a similar nature, talking about what a reasonable person Pitt is and saying he did not have to put a roof over John's head, but doing it showed his integrity.

What Kind of Neighbor Was Brad?

Peterson also talked about what it was like to have Pitt as a neighbor. She joked that he once left her in awe when she walked past his home and he was in the garage in sweatpants and no shirt.

While his handsome face and chiseled physique struck her, Peterson was more taken with his kind nature. She mentioned he was always "kind and sweet" to his neighbors and others.

Because the two lived so close, they became friendly, leaving Peterson with many funny stories to tell, one of which left some mothers at her daughter's school starstruck.

Peterson shared that she and other school moms were in a lunch meeting at a restaurant near her home when Pitt walked by and called out to her before giving her in a hug, leaving the other mothers stunned. Peterson joked:

"I've gotta tell you, these other mothers I was with, their mouths were hanging open, and they could not shut their mouths. I was just like, 'Oh, my God, this is the best thing that's ever happened to me in my whole life.’"

Peterson joked that she was always looking for Pitt and had a great vantage point from her balcony, but he installed giant hedges, making it impossible to see into his property.

When Pitt Finally Sold His Huge Estate After 29 Years of Living There

Although many beautiful stories came out of Peterson and Pitt living so near one another, in March this year, Pitt finally sold his home almost three decades after initially buying it.

Pitt allegedly sold the 1.9-acre Los Feliz estate because he was looking to move into a smaller place in Los Angeles. After his ex-wife and children moved out, the property became too large.

This is one of many pieces of property Pitt has been reassessing. Since his split from Jolie in 2016, the pair have been splitting their assets and finances, which include some other impressive properties.

One of them is a chateau in the South of France. This was where Jolie and Pitt tied the knot in 2014 and where they took their children on many vacations throughout the years.

There has been no resolution on this property as yet, but other assets and finances for the couple have been successfully split between the two. Their children also have relationships with both parents.

While there are many contentious issues in Pitt's life at present, there is something that is making him happy: his new relationship with Ines de Ramon, with whom he is reportedly enjoying a slow but meaningful connection.
