Divorced Dad Brad Pitt Leaves Longtime Luxury Home for Life in Old 'Awfully Private' Bachelor Pad
- Brad Pitt sold his Hollywood Hills luxury house that he had owned for nearly 30 years and lived with his ex-wife Angelina Jolie and their six children.
- The divorced actor is moving to his private bachelor pad that he is "in love" with.
- At 59, he embodies being a dad.
Brad Pitt became a better man after his hard divorce from the mother of his six children, Angelina Jolie. In 2017, he revealed he'd started therapy and loved it after going through two professionals to find the right one.
The star said he couldn't recall a day since leaving college when he wasn't drinking alcohol, smoking, or having some sort of pacifier. He used to run on his feelings but was happy to be done with it all.

The actor shared how he stopped all the wrong things, except drinking, when he started a family. However, he acknowledged that he had been drinking too much, which had become a problem, but half a year later, he had things under control.
Brad thought it was part of the human challenge, and one either denied them all through their lives or answered them and evolved. When asked how he'd stopped drinking too much, the celebrity said:
"Don't want to live that way anymore."

The "Bullet Train" star revealed that after his ex-wife filed for divorce in 2016, he sobered up and attended Alcoholics Anonymous for a year and a half. His private and selective men's group made him feel safe.
Brad noted seeing other people recorded during those sessions while they shared their truths was "atrocious" to him. Another possible step he took in March 2023 was selling the Hollywood Hills property where he'd once lived with Angelina and their children.

The estate, which he'd owned for nearly 30 years and had been filled with the laughter and joy of his children, was bought from Cassandra Peterson (aka Elvira) in 1994 for $1.7 million and sold for $39 million. An oil baron built the home in 1910, where Jimi Hendrix's "May This Be Love" was written.
Angelina and the children left the home in 2016 amid her divorce from "The Lost City: star. Over the years, the celebrity bought some of the lots adjacent to his estate, and he was involved in building, designing, and remodeling the structures.
Brad's main house was 6,700 square feet and boasted a ballroom, a skate park, a motorcycle garage, a movie theater, a Koi pond, and a stone house. His land was surrounded by landscaping, causing it to be completely private, plus it was in a gated community.

In January 2023, he'd originally listed it for $45 million and sold it because he was moving to Carmel in Northern California. Brad described himself as a bachelor in August 2022 with a new pad, a place he'd "been in love with" since the 1990s.
Inside Brad's Bachelor Pad
Brad was once described as a lover of Craftsman-style homes, which was seen as the reason why he bought his bachelor pad. The place, known as the D.L. James House, was big enough to accommodate his children and was designed by Charles Sumner Greene, a 20th-century architect.
The property was designed on land owned by Daniel Lewis James, a famous author of "Famous All Over Town." It was named Carmel highlands after him, with aerial photos showing how close it was to the coastline, giving Brad complete privacy.
Greene designed the estate not to interfere with nature, with the trees growing around it since it was first built. The house was open-planned with light wood doors, rustic fittings, a chandelier, artwork, and floral arrangements decorated the inside.
Alexander Vertikoff, the photographer who took exclusive images of the estate, which now belonged to the "Ocean's Eleven" star, in 1997, said the property had been "in a perpetual state of being finished for 50 years." He had a hard time telling what all the rooms were, adding:
"It's not that big, and it's awfully private."
Vertikoff revealed that some of its views from it probably didn't exist anymore as the greenery and grass had grown. He said a viewer wouldn't see the side of the 2.5-acre lot, which consisted of an almost sheer cliff that led down to a rocky beach.
The then 59-year-old star [Brad Pitt], in early 2023, allegedly preferred having private time with his children.
Someone on the highway could only see the big wooden gate set into a stone arch while the actor's house sat on a cliff below. However, it was described as "not as flashy" as the other more established estates in Montecito and Malibu.
Angelina's former husband might not be in a union with her any longer, but he was still a present father to their children. While his ex-wife was frequently photographed with their offspring, the "Interview with The Vampire" actor preferred a more intimate setting for their bonding time.
How Does Brad Spend Private Time with His Children?
Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Vivienne and Knox Jolie-Pitt enjoyed being on red carpets with their mother, but things were more casual when they were home with their father. A source once shared that Brad liked spending "low-key time" with the brood.

The then 59-year-old star, in early 2023, allegedly preferred having private time with his children. The insider described the family as "homebodies" who enjoyed having a routine in place, and another source said the actor had dinner with his younger children when they were in Los Angeles.
However, since the children were older, they had their own friends and lives, but Brad still had a "pretty good relationship with them" and could spend quality time with them at his new home. The "Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood" actor and Angelina were declared single in 2019.
According to the insider, when Brad's children weren't around, he still enjoyed himself with his love of architecture and creativity. The source said "The Big Short" actor was "living his best life under the circumstances."
