Valerie's "Terrific" Show Was Canceled

Bertinelli announced the end of her show with a candid video on Instagram. She revealed that the show, which premiered in 2015, was canceled last summer, but "I have no idea why," she said.

Since she had known for months that the 14th season would be her last, the actress said she did not announce it earlier because she thought the network would change its mind. However, that did not happen, and Bertinelli had to say her final goodbye.

She expressed how much she loved making the show, which had featured some of her friends like Betty White and Hoda Kotb as guests, and how much of a life-changing opportunity it was. After being married for ten years, Bertinelli and Tom Vitale announced their separation in May 2022. The couple finalized their divorce the same year in November.

Since the divorce, Bertinelli has not been afraid to admit how painful of an experience it was. In fact, one of her candid posts drew a lot of attention.

The Food Network star had shared a post about a narcissist ex that made her feel insecure about her body, and when the paparazzi ran into Vitale, the immediate questions were about his ex-wife's remarks in the post.

Vitale avoided the questions as much as he could, but the paparazzi kept pestering him until he said it was just a joke. As the paparazzi repeatedly asked what he thought about Bertinelli's comments, he said, "You know what I do? I work hard. I have fun."

During an interview on "Out Comes the Sun," Bertinelli opened up about how she found positivity in her painful experiences. She admitted that the divorce was wicked and hurt her to the core, but she sees it as a gift to get to know herself again.

Bertinelli has been putting a lot of energy into her well-being. The actress took to Instagram to tell fans she was doing dry January, which meant cutting alcohol from her diet.

The actress said from drinking less alcohol; she minimized her sugar intake. "I've been in a fight, flight, freeze, and fawn mode. And I want to go into rest and digest. And I think cutting alcohol will help me do that." Bertinelli added.

Abstaining from alcohol has helped her focus on other mindful practices like journaling and meditation, which meant cleaning out her body gave her a chance to reset.

Another important part of cutting out alcohol for Bertinelli was to allow herself to feel. She admitted that she drowned her feelings with food and alcohol, and since cutting back on the liquor, she's more in tune with her emotions.

Since going on her alcohol cleanse, Bertinelli said she has been eating more vegetables. Now the actress is happy to be divorced and living alone with her dogs, cats, and son Wolfgang Van Halen whom she shares with her ex-husband, Eddie Van Halen, but she also hopes for grandchildren.

The amount of work Bertinelli has been putting into her health has also been evident to fans. Facebook users praised the actress for still looking beautiful. "Valerie is still HOT for her age," said a netizen.

However, others thought she was completely unrecognizable. One commenter said, "Is this actually Valerie? I don’t think so," while another added, "So sad, but she looks tired."

Bertinelli has dealt with many changes in her life, and as she gets her feet into being a single woman, she now gets to find a new career adventure knowing that she created a well-loved cooking show.
