Joan Sebastian was a successful Mexican singer who won many accolades in his music career. Being a father is what he valued most, and he had a close bond with his children. Some of Joan Sebastian's children followed in his footsteps, while others chose a different career path.
The legendary Mexican singer-songwriter had eight children with five different partners. He once revealed that his children had a great relationship despite coming from a big family.
While Joan was still alive, he suffered significant losses when two of his sons met their untimely death at young ages. Still, eight years after his death, another of his offspring passed on.

Joan Sebastian Was Glad His Children Were Getting Along
Joan had a successful music career, but his love life was far from perfect; he was married five times. With his wife, Teresa González, he welcomed three sons: Juan Sebastián, José Manuel (José Manuel Figueroa Jr), and Trigo de Jesús.
The "Oiga" singer and his second wife, Mary Carmen, shared a daughter named Zarelea. After divorcing Carmen, Joan found love again with Maribel Guardia. They tied the knot in 1992 and welcomed their son Marcos Julián (Julián Figueroa) in 1995. A year later, the couple called it quits.
Still, Joan didn't give up on love; he married Érika Alonso in 1998, and they welcomed a daughter named Juliana. After they divorced in 2010, Joan tied the knot with Alina Espin, who remained his wife until his death. The pair welcomed two daughters, D'Yavé and Joana Marcelia.

Even though Joan had a close bond with his children, he admitted that the most challenging thing was bringing his family together. Still, he felt proud knowing his children got along well despite having different mothers.
Unfortunately, Joan passed on in 2015, aged 64, after a long battle with cancer. The singer was diagnosed with bone cancer in 1999, and his doctors had advised him to quit performing on horseback. But he didn't follow their advice, claiming he owed his longevity to his audience.
Famously known as the King of Mexican Rodeo, Joan had a successful career, and fans remember him for his outstanding performances. Joan won many Grammy Awards during his music career, and he became one of the most successful Latin musicians. At the time of his death, Joan was survived by six children.

José Manuel Figueroa Continued His Father's Legacy
Joan's eldest son, José, was born in 1975. He followed in his father's footsteps and pursued a career in the entertainment industry. He has acting credits on IMDb and is also a musician.
His daughter Joana has an active social media presence; based on her bio, she is a dancer and actress.
He released his first album in 1995, produced by his father. He sold at least 300,000 copies, and one of his singles topped the Latin Songs Chart. In the everchanging Rock en Español pop music, José has embraced many styles in his songs.

Joan Sebastian's Two Sons Preceded Him in Death
Trigo, one of Joan Sebastian's children, met his untimely death in 2006 while trying to protect his father. Based on reports, Trigo was shot as he tried to control a crowd of fans who wanted to gain access to his father.
According to reports, Trigo, born in 1979, was fatally shot at the back of his head following an argument between him, a bodyguard, and three men. As per the officials' statement, the men hit Trigo and the bodyguard with their firearms before pulling the trigger.
He died aged 27 and was survived by his son. According to his friends and family, he was engaged and had plans to get married. Monica Gomez, who attended the same high school as Trigo, said he was always by his father's side. He was the second of Joan's eight children.

He was instrumental in his father's career as he helped him form the management crew, which accompanied him everywhere he toured. He also worked at Suave Entertainment, a music management company.
Four years after one of Joan Sebastian's children died, he suffered another tragedy. His son Juan was shot and killed in a bar fight. Juan was allegedly shot twice by a security guard following an argument.
According to reports, when Juan and his friends arrived at the bar, the security guard denied them entry, and as a result, they engaged in a fight. Following the incident, the security guard pulled out a gun and shot Juan twice. Juan was born in 1977 and died in 2010, aged 32.
Losing two of his offspring left Joan with many unanswered questions; he couldn't understand why it had to happen like that. He said the death of his children was his greatest pain. While he admitted he suffered greatly from the loss, he said he enjoyed his time with them.
Zarelea Figueroa Is a Mom & Singer
Joan Sebastian's daughter, Zarelea, followed in her dad's footsteps and hopes to keep his legacy alive. She made her musical debut in 2017 and released "Los Monstruos," a duet song with her father.
In an interview before performing the song, she said even though she didn't get a chance to sing with her father, she didn't feel alone as she was certain her dad was accompanying her in her musical journey.
Zarelea has been in the music industry for at least five years and hopes to be successful as her father. Also, she has garnered a massive following on Instagram. As of this writing, she has 160K followers. In her bio, she describes herself as a wife, mom, singer, and dreamer.
Julián Figueroa Passed Away Eight Years After His Father's Death
Joan’s son Julián, was born on May 2, 1995. He also followed in his father's footsteps. He was an actor with several acting credits on IMDb. Also, he had an established music career. Though he lived in the spotlight, Julián revealed during an interview that it bothered him when people violated his privacy.
The singer and actor who struggled with alcoholism thanked his wife for supporting him through dark moments and praised her, stating she was an important pillar in his life. He added he would not be where he was without her.
Sadly, Julián died recently after suffering from a heart attack. He passed on April 9, a day after he wrote a long, heartbreaking post about his grief over his father's death. His mother, Guardia, a famous Mexican actress, announced the devastating news on her Instagram page. She wrote in Spanish:
"I am sorry to have to announce the departure of my beloved son Julián Figueroa, who, unfortunately, was ahead of us in this regard. They found him unconscious tonight in his room."

Joan's daughter, Juliana, follows a different career path. On her Instagram bio, she identifies herself as a blogger. She is also an influencer with a massive following on social media. She has partnered with Temu, an e-commerce company that connects millions of manufacturers, sellers, and brands worldwide.
