Tony Bennett Wishes 'Fabulous' Barbra Streisand a Happy Birthday with Sweet Tribute
Tony Bennett was one of the multiple celebrities who took to social media to send Barbra Streisand a birthday wish on April 25. The musical legend shared a throwback of the two of them with a humorous quote and has also shown support for Streisand in the past.
In a recent Instagram post, Bennett shared a picture of him and Streisand smiling for the camera and captioned the post in part with a humorous quote from Streisand that read, "Life's too short. Start with dessert!" "Wishing the fabulous Barbra Streisand a Happy Birthday! May your day overflow with joy, love, and an abundance of sweet treats!" Bennett added.
Streisand also received a birthday shoutout from actor Richard E. Grant, who shared four pictures of the singer over the years and wrote, "Happy Birthday @barbrastreisand." Mariah Carey turned to Twitter to share two throwback photos of Streisand and tweeted, "Living like Babs 'cause it's evergreen." I love you, Ms. Streisand!!!!! Happy anniversary @BarbraStreisand."
A third birthday wish dedicated to Streisand came from her record label, Legacy Recordings, which read, "Happy Birthday to our one and only, Barbra Streisand. Love, your Columbia Records, Legacy Recordings, and Sony Music families."
Tony Bennett and Streisand joined forces for their duetted cover of "Smile," and in 2021, Bennett raved about the "Woman In Love" singer's album on Twitter. "There's good, there's great, and then there's Streisand! @BarbraStreisand's new album of songs from her vault, #ReleaseMe2, is out today. Great friend, great past duet partner, and great listening for the weekend," he gushed.
In 2023, Streisand added to her already impressive collection of accolades when she was named the recipient of the Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg Woman of Leadership Award. As she approached the end of her career, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the former U.S. Supreme Court associate justice and a Barbara Streisand fan, wanted to create an award in her name "for women who strove to change society in positive ways."
"She wanted to honor women of great passion and achievement. She wanted it to be women in the RBG tradition. I'm pleased to say Barbra Streisand was among them," a friend of Ginsburg's said. Following the news of her award, Barbra Streisand expressed her honor on Twitter and shared, "I am deeply honored to receive this award named after one of the iconic and pathbreaking Justices ever to serve on the Supreme Court."
