'Looks Like She Was Cloned': Meghan Markle Accused of Plastic Surgery after Recent Appearance
A video showing Meghan Markle in low lighting when she introduced her friend Misan Harriman's Ted Talk recently sparked a round of plastic surgery accusations on social media.
Meghan Markle reportedly praised Misan Harriman, who captured many a milestone moment for the Sussex's, for his "unmatched eye for a good photograph" ahead of his talk. To thank the Duchess for the introduction and her support, he took to social media with images of the event and sweet words for "Meg."
A social media user reacted with shock and wrote, "Looks like she was cloned, doesn't even remotely look like her anymore."
"Whatever happened to the freckles she loved so much," an angry Twitter user demanded, calling the Dutches of Sussex "a grifter who gets plastic surgery to erase her heritage" to have Kate Middleton's features.
"She looks like she's trying to look like Kate....that won't happen," one stated. A second asked, "Why is Meghan trying to erase her black features with plastic surgery? "
Another person wrote, "I called it months ago. Meghan was laying low because she was recuperating from plastic surgery."
Tweeting another screengrab of Meghan, but this time with Prince Harry at a recent Lakers game, a fan defended her, "Y'all can keep crying "plastic surgery" we all know why because Princess Meghan Markle's face card is not declining! She is thriving in her own natural skin."
A second Twitter user countered the claims that Meghan Markle had plastic surgery by curating photos of her evolving beauty looks over the years:
"It's all about lighting, angles, and contouring. And hair straightening is something many black women do. It has nothing to do with 'erasing all traces of origin.'"
Meghan has spoken about the discriminatory treatment she received as a biracial working actress in Hollywood and how her appearance was scrutinized and changed. She said in December 2017:
"To this day, my pet peeve is when my skin tone is changed, and my freckles are airbrushed out of a photo shoot."
A month before her May 19, 2018, royal wedding, makeup artist Spencer Barnes chatted to ET about how his former client has evolved her beauty look. He insisted that though she has made a few "beautiful changes" in her life, her core self will remain and will "open up and flower."
The MUA stated that while others thought she would elevate her makeup, he would see that she has taken it to a "become more subtle, more nuanced" place. He loved to watch how she had "consistently" been herself. He has worked with Julianne Hough and Laura Prepon.
