Tom Papa was born in Passaic, New Jersey, on November 10, 1968. Papa excelled at football and track in high school, and it seemed he might take up sports, but his love of comedy won out.
He started doing stand-up at the Stand Up New York comedy club in the early 90s and met comedian Jerry Seinfeld. The two became close friends, and Seinfeld took him on tour as part of his show.
Papa quickly established himself as a successful comedian and was cast in films like "Analyze That," with Robert DeNiro and Billy Crystal, "Comedian" with Chris Rock and Seinfeld, and "The Informant!" with Matt Damon and Scott Bakula.
The film "Comedian" included in the cast another comedian, Cynthia Koury, who would play a huge role in Tom Papa's life: as his wife.
