Kim Hasse Was Gordon Lightfoot's Third & Last Wife and Muse
Gordan Lightfoot recently passed away and is survived by his third young wife, Kim Hasse, with whom he had no kids. The pair crossed paths while he was on tour, and he wrote songs for her.
Lightfoot was a Canadian singer-songwriter who had written songs recorded by the likes of Elvis Presley and Barbara Streisand.
Lightfoot sadly passed away on May 1, 2023, at age 84. His music career spanned six decades, and he had been lauded as Canada's greatest songwriter, having received five Grammy nominations.

Lightfoot, who garnered international attention for folk, pop, and rock music, was inducted into the Canadian Walk of Fame in 1998 and the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame in 2001. But besides his successful career, he was a family man who had been married three times (like fellow musician Lars Ulrich and actor Carl Weathers) and welcomed several kids.
When the guitarist died, he was married to his third wife, Kim Hasse. But details surrounding the couple's marriage are unknown.
Kim Hasse Worked in the Film Industry
Lightfoot met Hasse in 2013 when he joined another artist onstage for a Toronto Concert at Molson Amphitheatre. He had crossed paths with the Mason City, Iowa native on the road. Hasse had been exposed to her future spouse's music by her brother and had met him randomly at his concerts.
She is a background actress in Hollywood and once appeared in "The Brady Bunch Movie." In addition, Hasse is known for her appearances in "Pleasantville" (1998) and "My Sister's Keeper" (2009).

Hasse introduced herself to Lightfoot again in Tampa, Florida, and they connected, leading to a newfound relationship. He was still married to his second wife then.
She became the "Sundown" hitmaker's muse, and he, in turn, composed two songs, "It Doesn’t Really Matter" and "24 Hour Blues," for her. Hasse is 23 years younger than her late husband.
Kim Hasse Became Gordon Lightfoot’' Wife in 2014
Lightfoot and Kim Hasse walked down the aisle on December 19, 2014, at Toronto's Rosedale United. The lovebirds exchanged wedding vows in an intimate ceremony officiated by Reverend Doug Norris.
Lightfoot wanted his third marriage to be different than his first two. He desired to have his wife beside him while touring – to avoid history repeating itself – as his previous relationships were ruined because of his constant traveling.

However, taking Hasse with him on the road meant he would go against his band's standard rule of having no wives on tour. But she proved to be his greatest asset because, besides acting as his assistant, she was a good company to have while on the road.
Hasse's presence on the tour served a greater purpose, as she could be there for her husband, who experienced health issues at the time. She once assisted him with oxygen in his dressing room and encouraged him before leading him to the stage.

In May 2015, Lightfoot ended up in the hospital following food poisoning. He also developed emphysema, the same lung disease his mother died from.
A regular smoker, he needed hits from an oxygen tank during his performances, and his spouse was there for him. Hasse also accompanied her famous husband to a statue unveiling in his honor in his hometown, Orillia, Canada.
Gordon Lightfoot Was Married Twice before Kim Hasse
Before Kim Hasse, Lightfoot was married to his first wife, Brita Ingegerd Olaisson. The "Beautiful" singer and the Swedish native, whom he met while touring, wed in 1963.
Lightfoot and Olaisson welcomed two children, Fred and Ingrid, and were married for ten years before parting ways in 1973. Their union ended due to his infidelity while on tour. In addition, the two had long-distance relationship issues.

During a decade and a half, Lightfoot had two more kids from different relationships – Eric and Gaylen. He tied the knot again in 1989 with his second wife, Elizabeth Moon.
The couple had two children, Miles and Meredith, making Lightfoot a dad for the fifth and the sixth time. However, the pair's union ended in divorce in 2011, and he later revealed they had split nine years prior. Another musician with six kids is Pitbull, who keeps his personal life private.
