British actor Asa Butterfield doesn't seem to have a girlfriend. The star is secretive about his love and admitted that he prefers to keep fans guessing.

Butterfield rose to prominence when he portrayed one of the leading characters in "The Boy in the Striped Pajamas" in 2008. His impressive resume includes films such as "Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children" alongside Eva Green, Judi Dench, and Samuel L. Jackson and "Ender's Game" starring Harrison Ford.

With ever-increasing popularity due to his starring in the hit Netflix comedy-drama, "Sex Education," many fans have wondered about his personal life. However, the actor keeps a tight lip on the topic. He does, however, show much love to his cats, who are a frequent feature on his social media.

After the release of the third season of "Sex Education," in which Butterfield stars alongside Ncuti Gatwa and Gillian Anderson, Butterfield discussed his participation in the Netflix show and other personal topics, including his gaming and dating lives.

The actor spoke at length about gaming, revealing that he has always had a passion for gaming and sees that passion being there for quite some time. Although he doesn't have the time to become a professional, Butterfield does invest much time into the gaming world and wants to introduce it to more people. He said:

"I don't think people really understand how far it's come and how huge of an industry it is. I think of gaming as an art form and a way of staying connected with people. I played tons of games over lockdown because it was a great way to be social when you couldn't see people in real life."

Butterfield even has a great social life online. He has made several friends on the Internet, some of whom even know he is famous. Although their interaction has mostly been limited to online, the actor considers those people his friends and is glad that games can bring people together.

Although he is open to his fans about some of his offline activities, the actor doesn't reveal his relationship status to them, and categorically said, "I want to keep them guessing."

Still, it remains a hard guess for fans as Butterfield is very private, and much of his personal life has been shrouded in mystery.

Asa Keeps His Personal Life Private but Expresses Love for His Cat

Although Butterfield is secretive about his loved ones away from showbiz, his cats have been an exception. The actor frequently shares pics of his two housemates, whom he appears to love and adore very much.

Although their adventures seem primarily indoors, the trio seem to have fun together, and Butterfield has captured and shared snaps of some of those cute moments.

For example, in October 2020, he shared a picture with one of his cats, grabbing his head as if he wanted to tell him something. The funny post was captioned, "Come here, human, I have a secret to tell you." In June 2021, he showed his fans the unique chandelier-looking structure belonging to his cats.

Butterfield called his cat his son in one of his 2021 posts showing a selfie of the two. Earlier in the year, he had shown photos of the two fur friends walking around a snow-filled yard with a fiery description saying, "I'm raising snow leopards."

In 2022, Butterfield discussed his character on the show, Otis, and Maeve, and where he sees their relationship going in the fourth season.

At the end of season three, Maeve left for America, and Butterfield was unsure what would happen next. Although they are sure they have feelings for each other, the move complicated things a bit.

Butterfield also noted that he was also excited about his relationship with Ruby, with whom he developed a strong bond in season two. He said the couple get to spend more time together in the upcoming fourth season.

Fans have also weighed in on the discussions surrounding Butterfield's on-screen dating life. Some fans would like to see Otis and Maeve together, while others prefer Otis and Ruby.
