Peggy Shannon Was Vida Blue's Wife for Several Years & They Welcomed Twins
While Peggy Shannon was Vida Blue's wife during the late eighties to mid-nineties, the MBL player seemed to thrive having the stability of marriage in suburbia.
Peggy Shannon did not publically post on social media in the immediate aftermath of her ex-husband Vida Blue's passing during the first weekend of May 2023. The former SF Giants great was 73.
The pair met a few years after the sportsman hung up his cleats in 1986. However, that did not stop him from incorporating their wedding with the game he had dedicated 17 years of his life to as a player and beyond, as the SF Giants community representative.

Hailing from Ogdensburg, New York, Peggy Lee Shannon was born in May 1960. She lived in Pleasanton, California, in her twenties and now resides in Jamestown, California, where she is the bakery chef and proprietor of Momma Peggs Pantry.
Established in 2015, Momma Peggs Pantry serves country comfort food and claims to be the "best kept secret on Jacksonville road" on its Facebook page.

Peggy Shannon Met Vida Blue on a Blind Date
In 1988, Peggy, then in her late 20s, was set up on a date with Vida. The retired baseball player, born July 28, 1949, still had close ties to the great American pastime. He proposed via a scoreboard message at the Oakland Coliseum on June 4, 1989.
The story of their nuptials was epic, but they lost out to Michael Jordan and Juanita Vanoy for the cover.
Their request to also get married at the Oakland Coliseum was turned down by management. Vida had been a valuable former player of the Oakland Athletics, having pitched three times at the World Series during his nine seasons for the team.
The couple found an alternative at the SF Giants' Fan Appreciation Day at Candlestick Park in Hunters Point, San Francisco. This had been Vida's professional home for the last five seasons of his career as a player.
Ahead of a game, SF Giants stood in a guard of honor, holding up bats like swords to form a make-shift aisle to the mound where the ceremony occurred. Vida's best man, Hall of Famer Willie McCovey, is quoted as saying:
"That was the shakiest Vida's ever been on the mound."
The newlyweds circled the stadium in a handsome carriage following their "I dos." The story of their nuptials was epic, but they lost out to Michael Jordan and Juanita Vanoy for the cover article of Jet in the issue that reported on their wedding.
The couple made a home in the small town of Twain Harte, Tuolumne County, California, far away from the temptations of the Bay Area that Vida had frequently succumbed to. He had served time for drug charges and spent time at a rehabilitation center before their marriage.
Peggy gave birth to their twin daughters, Sallie Blue and Evelyn "Evy" Blue, in the early nineties. He has a son, Derrick Blue, from a previous relationship. In his Sports Illustrated obituary, two other daughters, Alexis and Valerie, are named among his surviving relatives.

During Sallie's dental hygienist studies, Peggy took playful offense after being called a "geriatric patient" by the clinic when she agreed to be her daughter's first outside patient. She showed up on the day dressed as a much older woman with a wig and cane. In a September 2018 post, Sallie shared images and wrote:
"Although I was extremely embarrassed when I saw her scooting her [expletive] slowly into [the] clinic with her cane and [expletive] cheetah print slippers, all my classmates and instructors got a kick out of it. […] Thank you for being my first patient mom. I love you!!"
Sallie, whose Instagram is private, created a separate account to chronicle her aspirations to become a licensed aesthetician at Paul Mitchell Modesto in February 2023. She is set to graduate in mid-2023.
Her twin Evy is married to a man named Joey Brocchini. Peggy also has a son, Sam Campione, from another relationship, born on the same day as his half-sisters.
