Helen Hunt Paused Career for Her Ginger Baby – Her Daughter Supported Mom’s Happiness with New Boyfriend, Source Claims
- Helen Hunt is a celebrity comfortable aging gracefully, wrinkles and all.
- The star spent quality time with her now-grown-up daughter when she wasn't acting.
- The actress has found happiness again with a man who makes her happy.
Helen Hunt is famous for starring in the series "Mad About You." She also had a role in the movie "Twister" and appeared in "As Good As It Gets," a film that earned her an Oscar. However, once she earned her fame, the actress seemed to pull out from Hollywood and the spotlight.
Having been in the industry for years, Hunt was acutely aware that fame came with fans and media who felt they could determine beauty standards for celebrities.

And while many stars would chase the idea of youth, hoping to please the masses and meet their standards of perfection, Hunt has shared, several times, that she wasn't interested in the press's focus on her as they did with Jack Nicholson, her "As Good As It Gets" co-star.
Instead, she dismissed all expectations and chose to age gracefully, embracing any imperfections. And she's pulling it off! For instance, on April 12, 2023, the actress happily showed off her wrinkles in a car Instagram selfie.
In the post, she revealed she was off to the season two premiere of "Blindspotting" and that she'd done her hair. The star asked her fans if her hair looked good before sharing that all the hair was hers.
The post garnered many responses, including one from a fan who said Hunt was "gorgeous!!" Another person was also stunned by the actress's beauty and wrote, "Thank you for looking real, authentic, and gorgeous!!"

Besides being a celebrity, Hunt also plays the role of mother to her only child, Makena Lei Gordon Carnahan. In a recent post, the actress showed her fans how much her daughter had changed over the years; she is now a young adult.
Helen Shows Her Grown-up Ginger Daughter
In 2008, Hunt confessed that nothing surpassed the role of motherhood. That year, the star's daughter, who she shares with her then-partner Matthew Carnahan, was only four.
When the actress was at the highest point of her career — after winning the Academy Award for Best Actress for "As Good As It Gets" — she left the limelight to "get a life." She explained her transition:
"I fell in love; I had a daughter."
The mother of one confessed she found it challenging to discover a role more interesting than watching Makena grow up. Hunt further expressed her outlook on motherhood:
"Why go off and pretend to be someone's mother, or pretend to be someone's wife, when I finally had the chance to have that experience in my real life?"
On May 14, 2023, the actress shared a picture of her and her daughter celebrating Mother's Day. The pair took a mirror selfie with Makena as their photographer, with both of them dressed down for the occasion.
The duo might've been shopping in a store, judging by the few items featured in their picture. They seemed relaxed during their outing, with the "Cast Away" star admitting in the post that the day was the "Best Mother's Day ever."
Makena, 19, looked much older and as tall, if not taller, than her mother as she sported her long ginger hair.
Helen Is Happy in a New Relationship at 59
When Hunt's past marriage and relationships ended, she started a new one with Steven Tepper. The only person who Hunt sought approval from was her daughter.

According to a December 2020 article by Closer Weekly, the actress was not concerned about Makena’s opinions about her new boyfriend because the star's teenage daughter already loved how "happy" Tepper made her mother.
Tepper was described as very private but also a "regular guy."
An insider revealed how the actress's boyfriend spent Thanksgiving with her and her family that year. Her daughter was also looking forward to Tepper spending Christmas Day and New Year's with them.
Although Makena, then 16, was described as a "daddy's girl" and adored her father immensely, she also thought Tepper was "cool."

It was reported that Hunt had been dating Tepper for more than a year at that point. The time they were together allowed the actress's daughter to get to know the former attorney on a deeper level.
The star tried to keep their relationship out of the spotlight, but a source claimed the couple's romance was "going strong." However, having a new boyfriend didn't mean the celebrity had lost focus on co-parenting Makena with her ex.
The "House of Lies" writer dated the actress from 2001 until 2017, and raising their daughter together was still her "top priority." An insider alleged that the former couple had moments where they disagreed, but they still made it work.
Three years after their relationship ended, it was revealed that Hunt was no longer single. Carnahan had also started dating someone else, and everyone had moved on with their lives and were happy, including Makena.
The "Next of Kin" star was seeing the professional photographer, with another source saying the pair were "definitely an item." The insider claimed Hunt was really into Tepper and hoped their relationship worked out, and that's why she wasn't ready to go public about it yet.
Makena’s mother isn't rushing to open up about her relationship. A source alleged she didn't want to overwhelm him by placing him in the celebrity spotlight, as Tepper has been described as very private but also a "regular guy."
Luckily, the people who mean the most to the actress accepted Tepper. An insider revealed that the star's daughter liked the photographer, which meant a lot to Hunt. The source felt Tepper made the actress happy, and the mother of one deserved it.
Hunt, who turns 60 in June, only had one husband, Hank Azaria, whom she briefly married from 1999 until their separation in 2000.
