The "Matilda" star said they were still married. "And we are still very good friends, and we see each other a lot. And our family is still the most important thing to both of us," she added.
While on the podcast, Perlman expressed that she and DeVito were passionate about their jobs, but she never wanted to choose her career over her relationship.
Although the actors are in a good place now, Perlman confessed that the decision was difficult. Without giving too much information, she said many reasons were behind their separation and that it took a while for them to build an understanding relationship.

During their 30 years of marriage, the couple welcomed three children together two daughters, Lucy and Grace, and a son Jacob.
The Great Feeling of Becoming Grandparents

She remembered being warned about the overwhelming love of having a grandchild. "“Everybody said it will change your life when you have a grandchild, and it does. There’s a certain love," she expressed.
Looking back, Perlman has experienced different levels of love. The first memorable one being of her children, her husband, and a few boyfriends, but her grandchildren introduced her to something different. "But this is, it was a profound kind of feeling," she explained.
Despite not revealing which one of her daughters is a parent, Perlman said she welcomed a grandaughter named Sinclair Lucille DeVito. The parents decided to keep the DeVito surname despite the husband having a different surname.
The "Cheers" actress has given birth to three children but she will always be intrigued by the concept of bringing life into the world. She remarked, "They can do no wrong. Looking at a new human being is so amazing that people create other people. It's mindboggling."
Perlman might be loving her new role as a grandmother, but she is also trying to give her children space to enjoy their new chapter as parents. However, should they need anything, she is only a ten-minute drive away from them.
Becoming a grandmother also comes with a new name, and the actress would love for grandchildren to call her "Grandma Rhee Rhee" or just "Rhee Rhee."
Perlman has done a great job raising her children in the spotlight, so her best parenting advice is, "Be there for them for any situation you need them for. Be there for them when you want, but don't overwhelm them."
Aside from being great parents, DeVito and his wife both have amazing catalogs. The 77-year-old actor is known for his versatility and critically acclaimed films like "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest" and "Erin Brockovich", which earned him an Oscar nomination.
Perlman, on the other side, has been in iconic films like "Matilda" and the TV show "Cheers." But the world of fame is different when you grow up in it; therefore, the actors three children opened up about what it was like to have famous parents.

Jacob said seeing their parents embody different characters was amazing, and they enjoyed traveling to unique places with them. Being on set as a kid was also another memorable experience.
Above all else, Jacob credited his parents for keeping their family "really solid." Outside of traveling the world and seeing the behind-the-scenes of making movies, they enjoyed spending time as a family the most.

Lucy said it was weird whenever people approached her and told her how much they idolized her father. She remarked that there was not much attention on the children of Hollywood stars, but things changed when social media emerged.
So, the attention from strangers was uncomfortable and awkward for Lucy. Jacob added that their parents were over-protective and were strict about paparazzi approaching them when they were younger.

Despite those challenges, Lucy followed in her parent's footsteps and graduated from Brown University with a degree in Theatre. She has acted beside her father in the movie "The Comedian" but also made solo debuts in films like "Leaves of Grass" and TV shows like "The Marvelous Mrs. Maise.l."
Perlman and DeVito's secondborn Grace keeps a low profile, but she acted in the movie "Amboy" and appeared in the 2017 animated show "Jeff And Some Aliens." She also produced the series "My Girlfriend's Abroad."
Jacob is also in the entertainment business but mostly works behind the scenes as a producer. Some of his projects include "The Better Angels" and "St. Sebastian."
