  • Megan Fox met Brian Austin Green on the set of "Hope & Faith," where after an accidental touch by the latter, she felt electricity shooting through her.
  • Despite the huge age difference, Fox and Green were in a 16-year relationship that ended in divorce.
  • Their marriage might not have worked, but they've remained united in terms of raising their two sons to be whoever they are – even if that means sporting dresses and having long hair.

Megan Fox's mother had initially accompanied her to film sets as a teenager, particularly on "Holiday in the Sun" with the Olsen twins and "Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen" with Lindsay Lohan. When she turned 18, this all changed, and she was on her own.

Her mom had flown back to Florida, leaving Fox alone in Los Angeles. Shortly after, she relocated to New York to co-star on "Hope & Faith" with Kelly Ripa.

The show ran for three seasons and was being shot in New York to accommodate Ripa's busy schedule. At the time, Fox only had two lines for each episode, but she was just happy to have a job.

Brian Austin Green came to set one week, one of the stars of the original "Beverly Hills 90210." He was to guest star on "Hope & Faith," and one day, he accidentally grazed Fox's leg.

Everyone was monitoring a scene then when the incident happened. "I remember literal electricity shooting through me and out me from every direction. It was like magic," the actress once said.

Green wasn't looking for a relationship at the time. He had just gotten out of a pretty fresh one, a relationship that brought him a son.

He also knew that Fox was way younger than him. He knew it wasn't going to work, so when his role on the show ended, he left and thought that was it.

However, in a podcast dated 2019, Green revealed that Fox was "really persistent." He kept pushing her away until one day, Fox agreed and said she was going to date other people.

It was then that Green realized he didn't actually want Fox to go away and date other men. He let go of his previous decision not to date and knew there was no turning back.

Green was almost 13 years Fox's senior. When they began dating, she was 18 while he was 30 years old.

It wasn't easy from the beginning. After announcing their engagement, the press started leaking information that they seemed to have called it off.

Contrary to these reports, they clarified shortly after that they were still engaged and planning their wedding quietly. Unlike many celebrity weddings, the couple wanted a simple, intimate ceremony.

On June 24, 2010, they finally tied the knot. They had been engaged since 2006, and when they felt the time was right, they flew off to Maui where they wed at the Four Seasons Resort.

The couple share three children together. Their eldest son Noah was born in 2012, their middle child Bodhi in 2014, and their youngest son Journey in 2016.

The Couple Divorced Twice

In May 2020, Green announced on his podcast that he and Fox were divorcing after 10 years of marriage. He addressed the elephant in the room after photos of Fox with Machine Gun Kelly surfaced online a week prior.

It all began when Fox left home to film "Midnight in the Switchgrass." Green began feeling distant since then, and things didn't change when she went back home.

Green gave Fox a couple of weeks to get back into the rhythm before having a deep discussion about their marriage when he realized things kept going south. It was then that the actress admitted she felt more like herself when she wasn't at home.

They decided to separate for a while until they decided that separating for good was what would work best. Despite choosing to go their separate ways, they've both acknowledged that the life they've built with their sons was special.

Fox and Green vowed to remain friends and stay a "united front" for their kids. They promised to go on family vacations together and spend the holidays with family. Green also said:

“We've had an amazing relationship, and I will always love her, and I know she'll always love me."

The actor also cleared the air by saying no third parties were included in their separation. Their decision to separate wasn't due to cheating, and Fox's sightings with the rapper were at the time, platonic.

The divorce wasn't the first separation between Green and Kelly. After their engagement in 2006, they called it off in 2009 before getting engaged again a year later.

They got married in 2010, and after welcoming their first two children together, Fox sparked separation rumors when she was spotted without her wedding ring in 2014. She eventually filed for divorce in 2015 citing irreconcilable differences.

At the time, sources have said Fox and Green had a difficult time managing their time at work and at home, especially since the actress' career was booming. "Brian wants more of her time than she can allow," an insider revealed.

Fox herself was overwhelmed by the demands of both her personal life and career, and at one point, she and her husband were constantly arguing about her time at home. It led to problems, and those problems eventually led to their separation.

A few months after filing for divorce, Fox discovered she was pregnant. Media speculated about the child's father, knowing she and Green were separated at the time.

The couple had no choice but to announce their family's expansion to silence all rumors. They got back together shortly after.

Green was vocal about the challenges that came with raising children and maintaining a relationship. After talking through their differences, they've found common ground when it came to co-parenting their kids.

In 2022, Green stunned the world when he welcomed a fifth son, Zane, with Sharna Burgess. At the time, Fox was also already in a relationship with Machine Gun Kelly, even getting engaged that same year.

A video regarding Green's reaction to their engagement went viral on YouTube, where he reportedly "couldn't care less." He no longer had romantic feelings for his ex-wife, nor was he angry at her for anything.

In fact, the "Beverly Hills 90210" actor was supportive of his ex-wife's new relationship, as he himself has moved on. Green and Burgess were partners on "Dancing with the Stars," and it led to something more.

Now that they have a child together, Green couldn't be happier. His older kids were also delighted with the new addition to their family and with their dad's new love.

A New Parenting Challenge to Face

Through it all, Fox and Green are united when it comes to supporting their sons in whatever they wish to do. The "Jennifer's Body" actress admitted that it was "really easy" to encourage her three sons to be themselves.

"We're here to keep them alive, but we're learning all the lessons from them," she said. Green echoed Fox's sentiments by adding:

"We don't encourage them to be themselves, we just encourage whoever they are."

While Fox and Green are happy to mold their kids into whoever they want to be, their fans aren't as supportive. They've been very vocal about how they felt about their kids seemingly dressing up as girls.

A recent photo of Green going on a shopping trip with his children went under fire when people realized Green allowed all three of his kids with Fox to grow out their hair. They flooded the comment section with comments, demanding them to cut the kids' manes.

People began bullying Noah because of his fashion choices, and the discussion once brought Fox to tears.

After seeing their three sons with long hair and dresses, internet users slammed the parents for seemingly forcing it upon their children. The actor was quick to defend his sons, saying having long hair was their choice.

It has been the same narrative for years, with people slamming the three kids for choosing to sport long hair and even wearing bathing suits during pool day.

Likewise, Fox was quick to defend her eldest son Noah for his desire to wear dresses. People began bullying Noah because of his fashion choices, and the discussion once brought Fox to tears.

She revealed that Noah began wearing dresses at the age of two. She then began buying books that addressed cross-dressing and how children could clothe themselves in whatever they wished.

"So from the time they were very young, I've incorporated those things into their daily lives so that nobody feels like they are weird or strange or different," she said.

While this was the case in their family, Fox was accepting of the fact that other people wouldn't be as understanding. She acknowledged that she couldn't control how other people react to her kids, which is why she's tried to protect them from social media through the years.

She even enrolled her kids in a school where other parents shared similar beliefs and where many children weren't on the Internet. However, with both Green and Fox being famous actors, other people commenting on their children is inevitable.

With such a busy career, many people sometimes forget that she's a mother. However, working hard has its difficulties for Fox, who cries whenever she isn't around her children for a long period of time.

As much as she wanted to take her children with her, she couldn't because they were in school. Her situation has left her feeling guilty at times, thinking she hasn't done enough for her children.

Despite this, one thing Fox and her ex-husband agree on is protecting their three children with all their might. Whether or not they continue having an interest in dresses and having long hair, the co-parents are determined to stand by them, no matter what other people might say.
