Principal Mocks Disabled Teacher, Unaware He Is Being Filmed – Story of the Day
Ron sneaks into his English Literature class to hide cheat sheets for an upcoming test and ends up recording a heated exchange between his principal and his class teacher that changes several lives forever.
"Time to turn my D's into A's," Ron muttered as he hurried to his desk and crouched down, pulling out the cheat sheets tucked into his jacket pocket. This was his golden ticket to passing tomorrow's test.
He taped the sheets under his desk and got to his feet, ready to leave the class. But he heard footsteps outside just as he approached the classroom door and dived beneath the closest desk, curling himself tightly in the space.
"You're missing an arm, not a brain, Lucy! Why would you behave so foolishly?"
Ron's jaw dropped as he recognized the voice. It was Principal James, and he was mocking Ron's class teacher, Miss Clayton, for having a prosthetic arm.
Ron hurriedly pulled out his phone from his pocket, lifted it until the camera caught the pair at the front of the class, and started filming...

"I've told you a million times to stay away from me at school," Principal James continued.
"I know, but I couldn't resist, Richard. Your pants were so tight, and why would you wear something like that unless you wanted to tease me?"
Ron almost dropped his phone. "What the hell? Miss Clayton and Principal James are a couple?"
Principal James sighed. "We can't afford to take risks, Lucy," he said in a gentler tone. "We have to think about our jobs and our reputations. My divorce hasn't gone through yet, and it would cause a scandal if anyone found out about us."
"I know, Richard. You're right. But I just wish things were different."
Ron waited until the two ended their conversation and left the class. He then sat at his desk and watched the video. Not only was the audio quality perfect but his teacher and principal's faces were captured in HD. Oh, this was too perfect!

The next day, Ron waited until all the students submitted their test papers and left the class after the test. Then he marched to Lucy's desk and submitted a blank paper.
"What does this mean, Ron? Why is your paper empty?" She looked up and frowned.
"I thought it would be great if you filled it for me, Miss Clayton, so I could get the best mark in class," Ron answered with a sharp smile.
"Well, many students want that, but that's not happening. The only grade I can give you for this is an F." Lucy lifted his paper and placed it on the pile on her corner's desk with other students' papers.

"Unless you want everyone to know about your and Principal James' romance," Ron smirked and played the video on his phone. Lucy's face went pale.
"I hope you know what you're supposed to do now, Miss Clayton. You give me a good grade, and this video stays with me. Otherwise, everyone gets to know what you two are up to," Ron stopped the video and left the class.
The rest of the day was nothing less than hell for Lucy. Her mind kept replaying Ron's threats, and she couldn't concentrate during any lessons. But on the other hand, Lucy saw it as an opportunity to finally bring her relationship with Richard out into the open.
So that night, Lucy arranged a romantic dinner and rehearsed the best way to break the news about Ron's blackmail. After a few minutes of trying to broach the subject carefully, she got to the point.
"Ron from 12th grade filmed our argument at school yesterday, and now he's blackmailing us," she said. "I think we should finally announce we're a couple. It doesn't matter if your divorce isn't finalized yet."
Richard stopped eating and shook his head. "It never will."

Lucy's heart skipped a beat. "What? But didn't you say it could be any day now?"
And it was then Lucy saw the real Richard for the first time. He was never going to divorce his wife. In fact, Lucy wasn't the first woman he'd had an affair with.
"You do what that boy says, or I'll fire you. Do you get that?" he finished.
Tears sprang into Lucy's eyes, but she nodded.
"Say it out loud!" He walked around the table and tipped her head back with two fingers to meet her gaze.
"I...I understand," she said meekly.
"Good. Now, I'm guessing you won't be willing to give me dessert..." Richard paused, and his gaze roamed down toward Lucy's chest. "So there really isn't any reason for me to stay."

Lucy spent the rest of the evening and all of Saturday curled up in bed, crying into her pillow. That love Richard had shown her all this time was just a lie.
Lucy started feeling sick and thought it was because she hadn't eaten. But then, a horrible thought crept into her mind when she opened the fridge, and the sight of the food nauseated her.
She dashed to the drugstore and bought two pregnancy tests. She hadn't had her period, and when she checked the test result, her worst fears came true. Just to be sure, Lucy did the test again. She was pregnant.
Lucy sent a message to Richard, thinking her pregnancy might push him to leave his obviously unhappy marriage, but her hopes were crushed when he asked her to terminate the pregnancy.
That Monday, Lucy took boxes to school and started packing things. She would quietly leave the city, and no one would ever know. A knock on the classroom door startled her.

"Are you going somewhere?" Ron asked, approaching her.
"I'm going to quit. I've decided I'm not getting bullied by you or anyone. My part in your game ends now," Lucy said, angrily stuffing her things in the final box.
She lifted everything and turned to leave, but she didn't notice her handbag wasn't secure. One hand slipped off her prosthetic fingers, and the contents tumbled out to the floor.
Ron immediately crouched down to help her, and she was about to tell him she didn't need his help, but her eyes fell on the pregnancy test beside her lipstick on the floor.
"Give me that!" she shouted as she lunged to grab it. But she was too late.
''Is this also part of the reason why you're leaving?'' Ron looked at her as he held up the positive pregnancy test she'd brought to school to show Richard. "It's Principal James, isn't it?"

''Freaking hormones!'' Lucy snapped as she burst into tears. ''You're dreaming if you think I'll tell you anything, Ron. You just want more blackmail information, and I already told you I won't play your game anymore."
"You don't need to, Miss Clayton; I can read between the lines." Ron gathered the rest of her possessions from the floor and set them on her desk. ''It seems you're giving up and running away from the problem. And if you are running anyway, why not do it with a bang?"
Ron set a thumb drive down on Lucy's desk, gave her a mock salute, and headed for the door. The drive Ron had left her contained her and Richard's video.
Lucy's first instinct was to destroy it and leave as she had planned. But she smiled as she realized the perfect way to expose the cheating, manipulative creep Richard was.
A few months later…
The auditorium was filled with teachers, students, and family, with a banner reading 'Congratulations Class of 2023'. Lucy sat among the other teachers, anxiously turning her thumb drive. "It's not too late to change your mind," Lucy thought to herself. "There's no shame in just walking away..."

But she'd seen how Richard looked at Elisa, the tenth-grade Physics teacher, lately. He was clearly ready to move on to his next conquest, and Lucy felt obliged to protect Elisa from him.
Richard appeared at the podium. "This is a day of triumph for every student who graduates here today," he said as he began his speech.
Heads nodded in the audience, and whispers grew to a muted chatter as Richard's speech drew out. Lucy couldn't believe she'd never noticed what an egotistical blow-hard he was. After what felt like hours, he finally finished up.
"...In conclusion, graduates, as you embark on this next chapter of your lives, remember that the world will inevitably present us with obstacles and setbacks in the future. However, it is in these moments that we must lean on our moral and family values to weather the storm. Congratulations, Class of 2023." Richard clapped his hands.
Now, it was Lucy's turn to speak as she was the graduating class's register teacher. She started with a brief mention of the highs and lows of the school year while a slide show played on the overhead projector. She then said a few kind words about each student, including Ron, and congratulated the class as a whole.

Finally, she took a few deep breaths to steady her nervously fluttering heart and glanced down at the laptop hooked up to the overhead projector.
"Lastly, I want to address all of you on a more serious note," she said. "To the girls of this class, never get involved with a scumbag who will play with your heart, knock you up, and then leave you. And to the boys, I hope you will always take responsibility for your actions and not run away like cowards."
Lucy pressed play on the video and walked away.
But soon, a chorus of 'boos' and angry shots followed, and she turned around. Everyone was dissing Principal James.
One of the teachers beckoned Lucy to the stage. "Don't leave, Lucy," she said. "You did the right thing, and we want you to stay and celebrate Graduation."
