Although she had a Bachelor's degree magna cum laude in Literature, her talent took her around the country, performing in different locations. Beyond her passion for the arts, Kelly also worked office jobs and owned a freelance graphic design and transcription business with The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and others as her clients.

Christopher's parents also had an acting stint. They met and married in the '80s after meeting in New York. The couple did not let go of their love for theatre and film, and their son became a part of that lifestyle. He also knew their difficulties as they worked to succeed in their craft. Christopher said:
"I always knew that they had tried to act and that they loved it, but I wanted to do something different. I wanted to be a little bit of a rebel – I'm not, really."
As Michael and Kelly expanded their family, they moved to Connecticut to raise their kids. Christopher was born there on March 24, 1998, and grew up with his sister, Michelle.
However, Christopher moved to New York for college. Growing up, he made his parents know he wanted to receive his college degree in Los Angeles, but after being rejected by several colleges, he went to New York.

The actor continues to have a great relationship with his father, whom he described as sweet and kind. While speaking about his role and the love triangle in "The Summer I Turned Pretty," where he starred alongside Lola Tung, the actor revealed that his father always told him to express himself and cry if needed.
However, despite learning not to talk about his emotions or express himself in tears, he sometimes gets emotional when watching movies, and those moments make him remember his father.
