When Treat married his wife, Pam Van Sant, they lived in his father's house in Weston until he eventually bought a house, still in Vermont, and they moved out. The actor admitted that he had always loved Vermont both in winter and summer:

"There was something incredibly special about it to me, and the people here are incredibly honest, real, and good-humored. There's also always something new to discover somewhere on a dirt road that you've never traveled on before."

Treat said he loved living in Vermont. He noted that he was always grateful to wake up and look outside his window:

"I don't have any fantasies of being somewhere else. I have everything I want and need in Vermont. I've been all over the world, and I've never seen a place as beautiful as Vermont."

Until his death, the 71-year-old would always share pictures and videos of the amazing landscape in Vermont with his followers.

In one post, the actor and his family and friends were having dinner outdoors, and beyond; one could see the hills and forests of Vermont. He captioned the post, "So good to be home."

Thirty-seven years ago, Treat bought the house he, his wife, and their kids Gill and Elinor enjoyed living in a place he considered absolutely special.

Treat was a prominent actor who had many gigs as he starred in "Hair," "Everwood," "Blue Bloods," and "Deadly Hero." During the years Treat was largely absent from the big screens, he met Pam while she was waitressing in a New York restaurant.

The father of two was the only person hurt in the accident and was airlifted to a hospital in New York; unfortunately, he lost his life.

Treat married Pam in 1988 while she was still a waitress as much as the actor had previously dated actresses such as Dana Delany. Pam later became an actress and producer. In 1995, Pam starred in the PBS docuseries "American Masters."

Pam and Treat were blessed with two kids, and they cherished their family time on their small 200-year-old farm in southern Vermont. As per the actor, he felt the pressure to go and live in Hollywood, but he didn't because he loved the East Coast.

At the peak of the pandemic, Treat revealed that he was at home with his son and wife while their daughter was at the University of Vermont. The actor noted they were lucky to live on a farm:

"I think being on an old farm with land and able to get out and about every day makes it a lot easier than my friends in New York City. So I feel very blessed that we're in an environment that I love."

The "Second Act" star said during the pandemic, he would mow hay on his farm and just relish at how beautiful the day was. He confessed that during summertime, he enjoyed the fresh smell of cut hay on his property:

"I'm not particularly religious but I'll sometimes stop and sit on the tractor and go, 'I really wish I can thank somebody for this because this is really a great life. When I'm not acting, it's just the greatest place to be."

Treat's love for Vermont was evident in his Instagram post, where he would share pictures of his beloved home state, including the farms, landscape, gorgeous property, and the wonderful small businesses he supported.

The "Critical Mass" actor also shared pictures of his wife and kids on social media. He was never shy about showing them affection. Treat would post pictures of Pam chilling in their living room while they were both on a trip and while hanging out with their kids.

The actor always said he loved his wife in the captions of her pictures. Pam's career wasn't as successful as Treat's, but she would often support him by going to red-carpet events and premieres of his movies and films.

Treat, firstborn, Gill, 31, is a talented artist who graduated from New York University. He is a multitalented individual who also pursues a career in music and has appeared in a few short films.

Gill's father always supported him, and he once commented on one of his son's drawings on Instagram and wrote, "My son did this. Proud papa."

Treat, and Pam's lastborn is Elinor, 24. She attended the University of Vermont and moved to Los Angeles to spend more quality time with his dad.

Just a week before he died, Treat shared a tribute to Elinor on Instagram, captioned, "I miss you, daughter, ❤️❤️❤️" and she replied, "Thanks dad I love you."

Treat's family released a statement after the actor died and said they were in shock due to the great loss of a man they dearly and deeply loved and respected.

Treat, who had always expressed gratitude about living in Vermont, died in a car accident involving a single car and the actor's motorcycle. According to investigators, the driver of the car was turning, and he didn't see the actor's motorcycle.

Elinor also shared a picture of a jacket monogrammed with her father's name and a photo of their home's backyard in Vermont, which she captioned, "We're home dad."

Treat, whose death has devastated his family, friends, and fans, was full of love for his wife and kids, his life, and his craft, and he appreciated all of his fans.
