Recently, the actress has made headlines due to her mental state, psychiatric detainment and some of the allegations she made against her family.

Why Was Amanda Bynes Detained?

According to reports, the Los Angeles Police Department received a call about a distressed woman and found that person to be Bynes.

The actress was whisked away by the police, who then took her for a medical examination to determine the severity of her mental state and the help she needed.

It turned out Bynes was in critical condition and needed to be put on psychiatric hold. It was also reported that actress could be held up for 72 hours by the law. But it is not clear if she was admitted into a mental health facility.

However, the 37-year-old was reportedly calm throughout her interaction with the police but was also said to have looked defeated during the ordeal. She was then photographed in handcuffs as she entered the police car.

Nonetheless, the arrest was a shock to those who know Bynes. One close source revealed the actress was doing well, attending her AA meetings and taking care of her physical health. But the main issue was that she was inconsistent with her medication.

As Bynes continues to navigate her mental health and tries to get back on her feet, many of her fans shared their sympathy and wished her a speedy recovery.

Amanda Bynes' Retirement Announcement at 24

When Bynes was 24 years old, she took her grievances to Twitter and spoke about how the acting industry was not as glamorous as it seemed. In a Tweet, the actress said, "If I don't love something anymore, I stop doing it. I don't love acting anymore, so I've stopped doing it. I know 24 is a young age to retire, but you heard it here first."

The actress had not been seen much on television at the time but had a few career milestones. Following the end of her tenure in "All That," she launched her show "The Amanda Show" but left in 2001. From there, she won a Kid's Choice Award and a Critics Choice Award for the film "Hairspray."

Soon after her retirement announcement, Bynes started to reveal information about her mental health and the conditions of her conservatorship, which she was put under in 2013.

The "Easy A" star said she was diagnosed with Bipolar and manic depression but was taking medication for it. Since she was still under the conservatorship, she revealed that she did not have to live with her parents as long as she was consistent with her weekly visits with her psychologist and psychiatrist and took her medication.

With this consistency, Bynes hoped to get herself out of the conservatorship. However, the star went on another spiral on Twitter, accusing her father of abuse but later retracted the statements.

Her mother, Lynn Bynes, got her lawyer, Tamar Arminak, to release a statement discrediting the abuse allegations and clarifying that Bynes was not in the best mental state.

After that, the actress revealed that her parents had her on a $50 stipend. "It's really annoying," she wrote. But that statement was also retracted. In 2014 Bynes was sent to a psychiatric hospital by her parents. She was initially meant to be held there for 72 hours, but her stay was extended to 14 days.

When it comes to Bynes' dating life, she was engaged to Paul Michael, whom she started seeing in 2019. But three weeks after announcing their engagement, it was revealed that they had broke up.

However, at the time, a source clarified that the engagement was the only part of their relationship that was called off because the two remained in a committed relationship.

Part of the reason they would not be walking down that aisle was reportedly due to public pressure, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the conservatorship that Bynes was eventually released from after nine years.

The couple continued to share many moments together on social media to let people know that their relationship was still strong.

In March 2020, after they broke off their engagement, Bynes shared a selfie with Michael captioned "My Love." In the same month, she alluded to being pregnant and posted a picture with the caption "baby in the making," and Michael followed up with one of his own and wrote "baby on board."

A few months later, Arminak clarified that Bynes was not pregnant. But in 2022, a close source revealed that the couple wanted to keep their relationship private and only hung out with close friends.

Nonetheless, TMZ reported that the couple had gotten into a heated argument that same year. Bynes had disappeared for three days and reportedly came back home with another guy. The argument led to Bynes telling Michael that she did not care about him leading to Michael leaving the home they shared.

Following the breakup in 2022, Bynes endured another mental breakdown and was witnessed walking in Los Angeles with no clothes on. Yet again, the actress was admitted into a psychiatric facility.

Michael was reportedly shocked at Bynes' behavior because before her disappearance and showing up with another guy, she was doing well, taking her medication and focusing on her nail business.
