Recognized for his accomplishments as an actor, comedian, writer, and producer, Kevin James turned heads with his weight loss in the early 2010s. Although losing weight was not planned for the actor, he tried to maintain his balanced lifestyle.

Kevin James' Weight Loss Was Unplanned
James's interest in mixed martial arts grew while starring in "Here Comes the Boom" as Scott Voss, alongside Salma Hayek, Gary Valentine, Henry Winkler, Joe Rogan, Bas Rutten, and others. The actor had to train for the role, which required knowledge of mixed martial arts.
He trained for the role for 14 months, working out thrice daily. His physical activities included running and sparring. He also changed his food consumption and drank more green beverages. In an interview, he revealed:
"I had to promise them I'm going to make this thing as real as possible. It's going to be something that [fans] haven't seen in me before."
Kevin James Maintained his Slimmed-Down Figure
MMA trainer Ryan Parsons helped James get in shape for his role and shared how he integrated training and activities into the busy actor's schedule. According to Parsons, they had to improvise and fit training sessions into the short free gaps in his days. So whenever possible and out of town, James would run up and down the hotel stairs.
The actor also used a medicine ball, whether it was to do push-ups or situps. One exercise Parsons always wanted the actor to perform was the medicine ball jackknife. He also made James do shadowboxing as means to get in shape. James shared at that time:
"We started with greens and a lot of drinking these green shakes and things like that and really cleaning up my diet, and we started light running and working out and training and technique."
However, his weight fluctuated shortly after the movie until he regained his pre-training weight. In 2018, James shared some of his workouts on Instagram, which included rope exercises and push-ups. He also sweats it out on the bike whenever possible, ensuring his cheat days are well-deserved.
The actor was also once ha[[y for when times were simpler, and he did not have to worry about gaining weight because of what he ate. In the caption of an Instagram post, he wrote:
"TBT... to a simpler time, when I didn’t have to worry about what I ate... or how short I cut my shorts. Stay strong."
Kevin James' Thoughts on Fitness
In 2022, James shared his thoughts on fitness and revealed that losing weight was much more challenging than in his younger years. Kevin James' weight loss was much easier when he could move all day without much pain and aches, which he now experiences.
He has also lost motivation to become active, revealing that getting up in the morning takes a while. Even his mattress has gotten used to its shape and has a formed dent on the side he sleeps on.
While he still makes conscious decisions for his health and wellness, he sometimes leaves it up to chance. In a previous Instagram post, James captured how he chooses meals by flipping a coin, as he did when choosing between a salad and a burger.
Like James, many celebrities, including Kelly Osbourne, Jessica Simpson, and JoJo Siwa, have prioritized their health and lost weight. These celebrities are proof that discipline and determination lead to beautiful results.
