Amber Heard Has 'Aged So Much' on Her First Red Carpet Appearance Since She Became a Mother & Declared Bankruptcy

Actress Amber Heard attended the world premiere of her recent film, "In the Fire," at the 69th Taormina Film Festival on June 24, 2023, in Italy.

This was her first red carpet appearance since her televised defamation trial with her former husband, actor Johnny Depp, which ended a year ago.

The Hollywood star attended the event with her co-stars and appeared in good spirits while posing with fans and signing autographs. She raved about her latest film in an interview with People:

"It's a beautiful movie about the almost supernatural effect and force of love. It is about the boundaries that love can cross and its creation, and really about the overwhelming power that love has."

Heard donned a black caped maxi dress paired with matching platform sandals and wore her blonde curly locks down as she posed for photos.

People posted a link to the interview on their Facebook page alongside a picture of Heard at the red carpet event, and some fans mentioned she looked different.

"Wow, she aged so much," one Facebook user commented. However, another person came to Heard's defense, saying, "She looks pretty."

Another person made a comparison between her and the "Aquaman" star in terms of age while also taking a jab at the "Never Back Down" star.

"I keep forgetting me and her are the same age. Thought she was like five years older, but then I remembered being problematic/toxic does age you a bit, lol," said the user.

Meanwhile, a third individual also commented about age, writing, "Wow, she looks 20 years older than me." And a fourth user agreed, stating, "Yeah, sure she does."

Heard Has a Daughter — Who Is the Father of Her Child?

Online criticism aside, Heard is focused on being a mother of one. On July 1, 2021, she surprised fans by revealing her child on Instagram.

Becoming a parent was a decision she had made four years before, and she wanted to do it the way she saw fit. She disclosed details of her newborn's birth date.

"I hope we arrive at a point in which it's normalized to not want a ring in order to have a crib. […] My daughter was born on April 8, 2021. Her name is Oonagh Paige Heard. She's the beginning of the rest of my life," she wrote.

Heard welcomed her baby via surrogate, so there is no info about who the father of her child is. She reportedly struggled to conceive biologically.

When her daughter Oonagh was born, the humanitarian was reportedly dating cinematographer Bianca Butti, but the pair parted ways in December 2021.

Heard's ex-husband Depp once claimed she was involved with fellow actor James Franco and billionaire Elon Musk while they were married. Still, it remains a mystery of who her child's father is.

Previous reports revealed Heard and Musk had a legal battle over frozen embryos in 2020, but no evidence suggests that he might be the father. The pair started dating in 2017 but split in 2018.

With regard to becoming a parent, Heard said that she did it on her "own terms." Moreover, Heard gave her child a symbolic middle name as she named her after her late mother. The "Zombieland" star announced the passing of her mom in a May 2020 Instagram post, writing:

"I am heartbroken and devastated beyond belief at the loss of my mom, Paige Heard. I feel truly lucky to have been her daughter."

Heard has since uprooted to Spain, where she is raising her now two-year-old daughter Oonagh. A friend revealed why the showbiz star moved:

"She's bilingual in Spanish and is happy there, raising her daughter away from all the noise."

Heard is said to have sold her California home and has spent much of her time in Madrid. She once raved about being in Spain and hinted at living there. In addition, she gushed about being a mom in a July 2021 post alongside a snap of her and her daughter:

"I'm just the mom and the dad. She's the boss."

What Was the Verdict for Heard on the Defamation Case with Depp?

Heard laid low following her highly publicized defamation trial with Depp – who came out victorious in the case. She penned an op-ed for The Washington Post in 2018 whereby she detailed her experience of domestic abuse but did not mention Depp by name.

For this, the actor sued her for $50 million in damages. She countersued him for $100 million while defending her reported abuse claims.

The jury reached a verdict on June 1, 2022, and found Heard guilty of defaming the "Pirates of the Caribbean" star, stating she could not prove her allegations against him.

She was ordered to pay him $10.35 million in damages. Depp was awarded $5 million in punitive damages and $10 million in compensatory damages.

The jury, which unanimously ruled in favor of him, also awarded his ex-wife Heard $2 million in compensatory damages but nothing in punitive damages. Following the verdict, Depp expressed:

"The jury gave me my life back."

After the trial ended, Heard declared bankruptcy. Her legal team reportedly told the judge she could not afford to pay Depp the stipulated amount.

She even appealed the ruling asking for the amount to be reduced. The Texas native then filed for bankruptcy and, on July 21, 2022, filed to appeal with the state of Virginia.

Heard and Depp first met in 2009 while filming "The Rum Diary." They only started dating in 2012 and got engaged two years later, in 2014. The former couple wed in a private ceremony a year later in 2015. However, Heard filed for divorce in 2016, which was finalized in 2017.
