David Harbour is a proud stepfather to two children from his wife Lilly Allen's previous relationship. Although he never wanted kids, his two stepdaughters made him fall in love with fatherhood.

When David Harbour married Lilly Allen in Las Vegas in September 2020, he instantly became a stepfather to her two children, Ethel Mary and Marnie Rose. Allen shares both kids with her ex-husband, Sam Cooper.

Interestingly, Harbour never intended to have children, but when he assumed the role of stepfather, his life changed. He has been open about his thoughts on fatherhood in the past and didn't think it would change.

"I never really wanted to have kids," he said. "I get it now – why everybody has kids. Because it's kind of like the meaning of life. You pass the torch to these other individuals." Since becoming a stepfather, Harbour learned to love his stepchildren more than himself.

The "Stranger Things" star called fatherhood beautiful despite the chaos that comes with having little kids running around. He even admitted to becoming a jungle gym, with his little ones climbing on him for fun. In a previous interview, Harbour joked about his lower back slowly falling apart.

Some of their most memorable moments as a family are shared on social media. Harbour does not shy away from posting photos with the girls, marking special occasions and ordinary days online. Among them was the day Harbour and Allen tied the knot.

After traveling to Las Vegas, the couple had a small ceremony with an Elvis impersonator as the officiant. Marnie and Ethel were in attendance and enjoyed In-N-Out burgers after. The actor shared the special day on Instagram, captioning his post:

"In a wedding officiated by the King himself, the people's princess wed her devoted, low-born, but kind credit card holder in a beautiful ceremony lit by the ashen skies courtesy of a burning state miles away in the midst of a global pandemic."

Harbour and Allen first sparked dating rumors in January 2019. In a previous interview, the British singer opened up about her first date with Harbour being her first date ever. She recalled him asking if she liked the restaurant they were at.

Allen then replied that she loved the place and added that her kids enjoyed the pancakes in the restaurant. Hilariously, Harbour's reply was, "Oh, you have kids?"

Harbour and his wife share the same passion for acting. The couple played love interests in Marvel's "Black Widow," starring alongside Florence Pugh and Scarlett Johansson.

David Harbour and Lilly Allen Are Raising Their Children in a Brooklyn Townhouse

The actor and Allen call a beautifully designed Brooklyn townhouse their home, the same residence they are raising their children.

Thanks to architect Ben Bischoff, the doting parents wake up to a fantasyland of bold colors and art every day. The family of four's home boasts of crystal chandeliers, tiger-patterned textiles, and floral wallpaper. Bischoff said of the interior:

"David and Lily were not interested in formality, especially with Lily's kids in the house. They wanted to preserve the details and character, but they also wanted to live in it in a casual, family-friendly way."

Allen was hands-on in the establishment of their house and wanted a particular table to be the focal point of their home. In 2022, she revealed she wanted a big kitchen with a large dining table.

Harbour has yet to comment on his wife's statement, but as it appears, he is happy with being a dad.

Upon entry to the home, the kitchen is the first room that greets guests. The Hollywood actor calls their kitchen the "beating heart of the house," designed to make people feel invited and welcome. Meanwhile, Allen revealed their kids described their home as a clown house, but in a sweet way.

Although the couple is happy with their life together, especially with two adorable girls bringing joy to their home, Allen expressed her desire to add to their brood. In a previous interview, she revealed that she missed having toddlers running around. She said:

"Especially now, Marnie's getting so big. It's like, 'No, my babies!'"

However, the singer is waiting things out. Perhaps in a few years, she will work towards getting pregnant again. At present, Allen is in a good place and does not want to disrupt her hormones.

Harbour has yet to comment on his wife's statement, but as it appears, he is happy with being a dad. As documented on his Instagram posts, he enjoys his free days bonding with his stepkids at home. Most recently, he attended Taylor Swift's The Eras Tour in Minneapolis.

Harbour doesn't hide his love for the girls. In fact, he credited them for being a significant factor in deciding to marry Allen. As he recalled, Marnie, confused with the D in his name, called him "David, Dad." Her sister, Ethel, then got upset and claimed he was not their father.

In discussing who Harbour was, Ethel said he was just one of the guys present in their lives. It was then that Harbour realized he needed to marry Allen.

Harbour is famously known for starring as Jim Hopper in the "Stranger Things" television series. Since the show's first season, Harbour has lost weight to portray his character better. His dedication allowed him to have a body transformation for the part when he became a starved prisoner.

Harbour also starred in the Christmas movie "Violent Night" "Hellboy," "Black Widow," Suicide Squad," "Revolutionary Road," and many others.
